Karen S. Gersten

I chose Attorney Karen Gersten because of her experience with Divorces involving Special Needs children. Karen is not your typical lawyer; she always puts her client's first and treats you as if you were her only client. My divorce was extremely contentious and involved 2 children under the age of 1...0 (one special needs and the other typical). Karen immediately got a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) on board to represent the children and what was in their best interests. Karen always had my back and when things got emotional, she kept me focused and strong. Without her expertise, support, compassion and dedication to me and my kids, I would have never survived. I'm currently on my own with my 2 amazing children and financially stable. I felt confident with Karen and all the recommendations she made. She made sure to review things with me to make certain I understood. Karen was in constant communication with me whether by phone or email before making any decisions involving my divorce case. Karen represented me in a highly contentious and emotional divorce. She is a brilliant attorney who also takes the time to understand the facts at hand. She was very reasonable and realistic in trying to bring my case to a settlement agreement; however, when it became clear that settlement was not ...possible or in my best interest, she expertly got me through a court trial. When you start going through the divorce proceeding, you can't imagine how difficult it will be.... it is one of the worst experiences. Unfortunately, that was my situation but I was very fortunate to have Karen Gersten represent me. She was thorough, skillful, professional, assertive and she was a...ble to chisel away issues and provide clarity and direction to me. There was a time in the case when the court-appointed attorney decided that my child should go to my ex-wife's school district and I really did not feel that the decision was in the best interest of my daughter. Atty Gersten was able to bring in an expert witness that could help provide objectivity and truly distinguish between the two school districts. Based on the additional evidence and the recommendation from the expert witness, the court-appointed attorney reversed their decision and it was a real "win" for my daughter. Atty Gersten really helped me to ensure that my daughter gets the best possible public education. As a side note, I did have another attorney that represented me early on in my divorce and that attorney was a disappointment. When you are going through the divorce process, it is a challenge with deciding who you will have represent you as an attorney and you want to select an attorney who will look at the best interest for you and your children. I would certainly select Atty Gersten to represent you in a divorce or custody issue.... if you don't then she might be going against you. She is that good!
