Karen S. Gersten

It has been quite difficult for me to articulate in words what to write for this review. I was fed up with my previous divorce attorney, I did not quite understand legal matters and implications, I have no legal background at all. My first impression of Karen was calm, controlled and extremely knowle...dgeable. She listened to everything I had to say, was honest, did not provide false hope. She helped me see the big picture and not fight for low hanging fruit. She heard everything I said and much more what I did not or could not articulate. She laid out the plan for me and told me what to expect. She was never in a hurry and did not make me feel compelled to make any particular decision, while given her astute legal counsel. She was excellent in communication. She asked how I was faring through the divorce process, she was genuinely interested in my case, and to her it was not just another case. I believe we were divinely meant to work together. I was never at loss about what step in the process we were in, nor was I ever surprised by anything. I could rest and worry less because I had a caring, smart exceptionally knowledgeable attorney. I remember thinking, I met Wonder woman in the flesh! This I know to be true. Divorce is never pleasant, but when you have an attorney like Karen, the hurt is so much less and you have confidence that it will all be well. Truly the best- inside and out. She is my Wonder woman!

Prior to consulting with Attorney Karen Gersten, I had been cleaning out my desk and came across an old sticky note with her phone number. I had been referred to Karen two years earlier by a professional acquaintance of mine who works closely with attorneys and who knew I was considering a divorce. ... Her advice was to “go see Karen” but the note never made it to my priority list! I had become so overwhelmed and discouraged with the legal process, having interviewed with two attorneys who did not have the scope of knowledge I was expecting, that I put my divorce on hold. I decided to call Karen. She promptly returned my call and rearranged her calendar to see me on short notice. It was the best decision I could have made. Her immense knowledge and expertise on family matters and the legal process gave me the confidence I needed to pursue my divorce. I have two angels, the one who directed me to find that old sticky note, and Attorney Gersten, who put my best interest first and gave me the advice that I needed to hear. Oftentimes during a divorce, a time of extreme emotional upheaval, you are looking for someone to sympathize and tell you what you want to hear. While having compassion for my situation, Karen did not offer false hope. Rather, she made it a point to be forthright about the legal process and what I could expect. As soon as you meet Karen, you recognize her immense integrity, honesty, and expertise. She is extremely wise, empathetic, well informed, and trustworthy. I feel Karen has the best interest of her client at the forefront. Before I met her, I was fearful of the legal process regarding divorce. After meeting Karen, I feel safe and I trust her completely. Thank you Attorney Gersten. You are an angel and a gem!

As soon as I met Karen, I knew I was in good hands with my divorce. Our divorce was not dramatic in any way. I originally agreed to divorce through mediation and hired Karen to simply file for divorce and review the documents our mediator was going to supply. but suffered from a complete lack of ...organization and follow through by our mediator and us as we avoided difficult conversations. Our mediator totally dropped the ball and under a tight deadline, Karen helped my ex and I finalize our plan. Although she was my lawyer, which she kept very clear at all times, she jumped in and helped my ex and I reach an amicable agreement. She was all business, funny, kind and kept the issues very clear. I would want her in my corner at all times. She has a tremendous amount of force and influence and although I never had to ask her to use these qualities, I know that if I was not being supported by the agreements I was making, she would go to bat for me. And she would win. Although our circumstances for meeting were not great, I absolutely enjoyed working with Karen.

I chose Attorney Karen Gersten because of her experience with Divorces involving Special Needs children. Karen is not your typical lawyer; she always puts her client's first and treats you as if you were her only client. My divorce was extremely contentious and involved 2 children under the age of 1...0 (one special needs and the other typical). Karen immediately got a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) on board to represent the children and what was in their best interests. Karen always had my back and when things got emotional, she kept me focused and strong. Without her expertise, support, compassion and dedication to me and my kids, I would have never survived. I'm currently on my own with my 2 amazing children and financially stable. I felt confident with Karen and all the recommendations she made. She made sure to review things with me to make certain I understood. Karen was in constant communication with me whether by phone or email before making any decisions involving my divorce case. I would highly recommend Attorney Karen Gersten to anyone thinking about divorce or even ready to file. She has an amazingly competent and talented staff as well, which is extremely important. Karen is highly respected among other colleagues, Attorneys and Judges. I can't stress this enough, Karen is not your typical lawyer........she has a heart and puts her client's and their children first. You want Attorney Karen Gersten on your team! Denise
