Before choosing Attorney Karen S. Gersten, I took interviews with two other divorce attorneys. But neither, I felt, had the breadth of knowledge or experience that Karen exhibited. Looking back, I now realize I made the right choice. Throughout my dealings with Karen, which lasted nearly a year, I f...ound her to be extremely perceptive, a good listener, precise, attentive to details, personable, comforting, intelligent, and highly informative on the laws as they related to my situation, and she always exhibited an unwavering sense of professionalism. When Karen initially gave me a guesstimate as to how little she felt my divorce should cost me, I thought she was joking because, in general, I held little trust for attorneys. Well, how wrong was I. The initial down payment fee was all that it took. On a monthly basis, she would mail me a clear, concise billing statement that delineated a breakdown of the tasks she accomplished and their respective charges per the time consumed by each. These charges would be peeled off (subtracted from) the initial down payment fee and at the bottom of the statement, the balance remaining would appear. Because she specializes strictly in divorce cases, I would not hesitate to recommend her services to any friend who is seeking a divorce. Karen is not a rollover-and-die type of attorney, she is a fighter. Choosing her, one can’t go wrong.

Very professional, organized and very good follow through. My prior divorce attorney did a terrible job and dragged the case along as slow as he could. Karen was able to expedite a quick settlement and reduce the length of years of recommended alimony for me. She is also very fair with her billing ho...urs. I worked with Karen a short time - I liked her however she dropped me mid case because she was nervous about my ex which I do not blame her for because my ex is very scary but I felt the correct thing to do would have been to return the entire retainer as barely any work was done and no motions filed.... Other than I have to say I wish she could have stayed with me

I was referred to Karen from a friend who went through a divorce with Karen as the opposing attorney. Karen knows how to be a lawyer and she has command of any room she is in. Being a divorce lawyer requires you to wear many hats and one hat Karen hasn't even found yet is compassion. I was devastat...ed that I was getting divorced and she showed no compassion or patience for the feelings I was going through. Often times in meetings where it was Karen and my ex-husband and his attorney I felt very alone and that she was not working in my best interests. There were several times in the nine months I worked with Karen that I had to ask her if she understood that I was her client and not my ex-husband. Would not hire again.
