Always felt like I was bothering him, at first he seemed very helpful & promised a lot and I felt like he was on my side. Then it’s if he vanished. Could never get a call or even a response of any kind back. Especially with things that require timely responses, do not sit around and wait for him. The... odds of him actually replying are slim to none! He also has charges on him for going after a pregnant woman while on an order of protection. Just the guy you want fighting your case!

I had to continually check in with him after the majority of my case was settled (and he was paid), terrible at responding, terrible at follow through. Never answers your call, or replies to email. Took another 3 years for him to finish my case. There are many lawyers out there, avoid this one at al...l costs.

Hired for divorce and he did not represent me well. Was always late in respondiing in a timely fashion. Was supposed to have meeting with opposing attorney for resolution and he canceled 2 times. Then on the final pre-trial hearing he was going over last minute paperwork with me for an hour and ke...eping spouse and the opposing attorney waiting and making spouse pay their attorney (hourly fee) waiting for him to get onboard in a timely fashion. And on top of that, he gets mad at my former spouse for speaking up about his negligence and lack of preparation. Also, was quoted $1,500 for divorce and it end of being about twice that!! BUYER BEWARE!! If you want progress and good representation DON'T HIRE Attorney Merritt.

I hired Steve Merritt November 2016 for a criminal defense case. He was prompt, organized, and very caring. He discussed with me in detail how the situation could be approached, and what the possible outcomes could be. I had a very positive outcome due to his professionalism and honesty with my ca...se. I rehired him to handle a petition to partition situation with a very difficult ex. While this is a long process that has not yet concluded, Steve has been just as thorough, caring, and professional as before. He researched several different approaches to my problem, decided on the best approach, discussed in detail with me how he came to his decision, and thus proceeded. He is responsive when I have a concern, and very kind and helpful regarding my financial situation. I also find his paralegal to be very kind and helpful.
