Beyond-belief legal service - thank you, John!

I contacted John Larochelle about an emergency Family Court matter concerning my young child. I was astounded at John’s dedication to my crisis. I sent an email to him at 10:00 pm. I received John’s thorough response at 2:00 am. Not being able to sleep because of this stressful emergency, I replied b...ack to him at 4:20 am. My phone rang at 5:15 am. It was John, who took 40 minutes to explain our best course of action, what I needed to do to help him achieve my goal, and what he would be doing. The rest of the day, John answered all of my texts and phone calls and did everything he said he would do. He worked on my case until after 7:00 pm. This morning at 4:15 am, John was up early to work on getting my urgent matter to a judge before 9:00 am. I can’t imagine the attorneys who work for presidents and princes could exceed the attention and service John gave to solving my crisis.

A Brilliant Advocate — But the Fight for What’s Right Isn’t Over

I hired Attorney John Larochelle because of his reputation as a highly competitive and sharp legal strategist. His confidence was reassuring—“I never save anything for the swim back.” was more than a motto; it felt like a promise that he’d fight as if the stakes were his own. In some ways, he deliver...ed on that. He is a gifted thinker, articulate, and capable under pressure. But brilliance alone is not enough when the truth is on the line—and especially when a child’s future hangs in the balance. During my custody case, a photograph depicting my infant son with a bruised face—allegedly given to him by me—was submitted and accepted as fact. I told Attorney Larochelle at the time that the image was false. Still, it was allowed to be considered without being challenged by my counsel. When I initially revisited this with him, his response was dismissive: he didn’t recall my concerns and did not believe proving the photo’s falsity would have made a meaningful difference. I disagreed then, and I still do. That photo matters—not just for what it falsely suggests, but for what it reveals about the character and intentions of the party who introduced it. If ever proven in court to be a fabrication, it would speak directly to two of the Pettinato factors: the moral fitness of a parent and their willingness to support a healthy relationship between the child and the other parent. Months later, after I posted a negative review on Justia, John contacted me to discuss the matter. He asked me to pause the review while he considered a constructive path forward. I was hopeful. I asked him not to revisit the past in a punitive way, perhaps to reengage mom’s attorney not to memorialize her alienating actions, but to consider a proposal that could help bring healing and truth to all involved—especially my son. John promised to give it a week’s thought. When he followed up, however, my hope dissolved. John reiterated his belief that the issue wasn’t his responsibility. He admitted that he believes my son would be better off with me in his life—but declined to do anything further. For a $585-per-hour legal mind that once inspired deep respect in me, I found his detachment from this serious issue profoundly disheartening. At Pride Exteriors Corp., where I am Junior Partner, we live by something called a "Restore Pride"—if something isn’t right, we make it right. Not because it’s required, but because it’s the right thing to do. I had hoped to see a similar principle upheld here, especially given the lasting impact this case has on the life of an innocent child. Attorney Larochelle is brilliant. He has many strengths, and I wish I could still wholeheartedly recommend him. But in this instance, where integrity, advocacy, and accountability were most needed, he chose to step away. I still hold out hope that he might yet choose differently—and until I find an alternative solution—I would welcome that day.

Robert, you are an intelligent and motivated person who has the ability to be a great father. I hope you will have the humility to complete the conditions the Family Court requires of you in order for you to re-establish a relationship with your son - even if you steadfastly believe you should not have to complete the many conditions the Court requires. I hope you will find it within yourself to undergo the transformation that will enable you to be the father, the mentor and the role model your son deserves. Regarding your claim that I let the Court consider a doctored image: The first time you ever mentioned a claim about a photo being doctored was not during our many hours of preparation, not during the trial, but many months later, in a January 2025 email to me. “Hi John, Thank you for confirming the date of psychiatric report. I remember specifically viewing the picture of my son with a shadow (not a black eye) in your office. I did not press you in that moment to dispute its authenticity- a grave oversight on my part as this approach could have quickly disproven [Mother’s] credibility and positioned her against Pettinato Factor 7.” In a 31 January 2025 email, you stated in pertinent part: “You had told me that [Mother] showed this picture to the GAL to prove that I had been physically abusive with my son- all while I knew that my son never experienced any bruising ever. I regret not being more vocal in that with you in your office at that moment with such an obvious smoking gun against [Mother’s] credibility. I suppose now is better than never." / To date, you have not produced one iota of evidence to substantiate your claim that the photo was doctored by Mother or by anyone. After posting the first negative review, you told me that unless I agreed to represent you again – this time for free – you would flame me on social media. I have one question for you, Robert: Why would you welcome and hope that a one-star lawyer would represent you again?
