DO NOT HIRE

If you are looking for a competent lawyer DO NOT HIRE SUSAN. I could never get in touch with her. She failed to put in a notice of appearance which led to the case being moved forward when it should have been dropped but because I had no attorney present they charged me. All will she will do it take ...your money and do ZERO work. She told me she filed for my summer parenting time and that we were waiting for a court date….i found out after waiting months for this date that she NEVER filed anything when I called the court to ask what was going on. She was late to every single court date which upset the judge every time. Ela is really the only person that you will actually speak to and that is just her receptionist. Susan NEVER got back to me , the only time you will hear from Susan is when she randomly sends you a bill that isn’t even itemized. She is the most unprofessional, lawyer…if you can even call her that. She stopped doing any work for me after I gave her my retainer. She is a fraud and lacks any empathy or sympathy for any of her clients going through a custody battle. She needs you to believe that she has “ a plan “ while all she is doing is stalking you to get more money. If I could give anyone that is reading this a favor PLEASE get your deposit back and find a actual attorney. I lost 2 years of time in court because of her incompetence. I don’t want anyone to have to go through what I went through in court with my son. She should not be able to practice law.

I am compelled to respond directly to this review, as it contains serious misstatements, misleading accusations, and defamatory language that I categorically reject. To begin with, every filing in your case was properly prepared, submitted, and confirmed in accordance with court procedures. You were provided with updates and advised of the status at each stage. Any claim that I “never filed” documents is false and contradicted by the public docket, which accurately reflects the procedural history of your case and is available for you—or anyone—to review. Further, several hearings were won on your behalf, both in Probate and Family Court and in District Court, resulting in meaningful legal progress. You may not have achieved every outcome you hoped for, but that does not negate the substantial efforts made or the favorable results obtained. It is both misleading and disingenuous to suggest otherwise. As for the accusation that I arrived late to “every single court date,” that statement is blatantly false. I appeared on time, fully prepared, and met all professional obligations throughout the duration of your representation. Any suggestion to the contrary is a misrepresentation of reality. I gave you clear, consistent legal advice at every stage. I never promised a specific result—no ethical attorney does—but I did explain what could be filed, what the court might consider, and what factors could affect timing. The fact that court scheduling was delayed or did not yield immediate hearings is not evidence of misconduct. I communicated clearly and frequently, and I strongly dispute the claim that I "did nothing." Finally, while I am bound by attorney-client confidentiality and cannot share specific privileged communications, I stand fully behind the quality, ethics, and diligence of the representation I provided. What I do not accept is false public commentary intended to damage my professional standing after extensive efforts were made on your behalf. I encourage potential clients to speak with me directly, review verifiable case outcomes, and form their own opinions based on fact—not frustration. — Susan Champa, Esq.

Effective, caring, and honest attorney

If I could leave 6 stars in this review, I would. Susan has represented me in a high conflict custody battle for several years. Susan was the second attorney I hired for my case; she was able to fix the mess made by my first attorney. Susan has responded to repeated motions from my ex with effici...ency and expertise. Susan met me on the weekends and after hours to prep for the two trials brought forth by my ex and I came out of the trials with solid orders that have brought more stability to my situation to which I attribute to Susan's knowledge and experience. We essentially "won" both trials. Susan is highly knowledgeable of the law and the judges which is an invaluable asset when going through the court system. Susan has also been available to touch base on issues as they arise after my last trial, responding quickly and always advising me honestly, telling me risks and benefits to pursuing motions, contempts, etc. Susan truly cares about her clients and their children. Susan's paralegal Ela is extremely efficient and is invaluable to Susan's team as well. Susan has guided me through this very difficult process and am very thankful to work with her. I highly recommend Susan.

Skilled attorney around child custody / parental alienation cases

I wish I hired Susan three years earlier when I abruptly lost contact with my younger daughter. I had hired an attorney to work on resuming contact when this all started. Unfortunately, the attorney I hired failed to understand the complexities of parental alienation and the situation deteriorated.... I hired Susan after consulting with an expert in the field of parental alienation. The expert recommended Susan since she had a grasp of both the legal and psychological issues around parental alienation. This knowledge was extremely helpful in developing the appropriate parenting plan while being firm with the opposing side. I strongly recommend Susan as a result.

Compassionate, Dedicated, Aggressive, Knowledgeable Attorney with a Heart!

Susan and her team worked with me to make great choices, negotiated and protected me and my family's best interest against all odds and always with a smile! She prides herself in knows her clients and their family as if we truly were her own family. She is always very positive and strives towards wor...king for win/win situations and helped me make the best choices with a very challenging situation while being very strategic in her forethought to take care of our short and long term challenges always planning many moves ahead. She is a perfect mix of being aggressive and not afraid of a challenge yet her compassionate and calm nature puts you at peace and this calm is felt even as you enter the court room with her. She is the first one to say pick your battles, not because she has better things to do, but because sometimes we need someone to protect us from ourselves, especially when emotions run high and I greatly appreciate that heart and dedication. After meeting with Susan I knew I would never hire anyone else to fight for the best interest of my son and our family. Highly qualified and always striving above and beyond with such heart, I am thankful everyday for all Susan has done!

A lawyer who gets results!

I have worked closely with Mrs. Champa for the past three years while my divorce case was active. I have found her to always take the time needed to with meet to discuss my then case, as well as to work with me regarding the best interests of my children. As a result of our case being discussed in an... open court, several people approached Mrs. Champa to request her business card. Her demeanor is stern yet very professional. I felt comfortable sharing the details of my case with her. Being faced with slanderous comments from my ex, Mrs. Champa took lawyers straight on. As a result, the impending restraining order was dropped against me. Her efforts helped me to receive joint physical custody of my children. I highly recommend Mrs. Champa's services to any prospective client.
