About Richard

Biography

Specializing in Bankruptcy and Related Litigation

Chapter 13 Bankruptcy is the most powerful of consumer protections, but not a field for amateurs.

Not all problems require bankruptcy solutions alone; sometimes remedies call for creativity

Chapter 11 is the most complex form of bankruptcy protection available to businesses and consumers. Now, Congress has made changes that further help the Small Business owner!

Chapter 7 may be the most utilized form of bankruptcy, but it's not appropriate for everyone's needs

Highest recommendation

I found Rick by reading other reviews right here on Avoo, and now that I've had my own super-positive experience, I'm happy to "pay it forward" and share my experience as well. Bottom line: Rick is the real deal. Working with him has been awesome, and I'm glad to say that my Chapter 7 Bankruptcy ha...s now been approved. Like many of you who read this, I turned to Avoo to search for a bankruptcy lawyer because I was too embarrassed and ashamed to ask anyone I actually knew for help. Having never done this before, I really wanted to make sure that I got someone who was reputable and who I knew I could trust. Thankfully (thanks to other reviews here on Avoo) I found Rick, and I can assure you he is exactly the man you want for the job. He's also refreshingly authentic. Quirky and funny (e.g. he keeps a "Magical Wand of Debt Abolishment" in a box on his desk), he may go so far as to tell you that he's a "pedant," but trust me: when you're facing bankruptcy, you WANT someone who is 100% by the book (and in fact has it so well memorized, that he can quote many parts of it back to you chapter-and-verse). I also recommend searching YouTube for some of his guitar reviews and song videos. Those also helped me to feel like I was going in with a real human-being (versus some "empty suit"). During my initial consultation with Rick, he let me do some of the talking and then started asking me questions. At the end, he said he was willing to take on my case, and explained that he charges a fixed fee (it's very reasonable--not sure I can put it here online, but it was a lot less than I'd feared it might be); understandably, it does have to be paid by personal check (and no: you can't put it on a credit card!). He then provided me with a very thick stack of forms that needed to be filled out. As I know how to edit PDFs, I asked if it was okay to fill out the forms on my computer and he said yes. That began the back-and-forth of me filling out the forms and him reviewing them until by the 5th Draft, we both felt like we had a 100% accurate picture of my financial situation that was ready to file. Shortly after the filing, we got the notification of the meeting of creditors scheduled for a month later, which went off without a hitch. And now, barely two months on (so roughly 4 months from start-to-finish), he just emailed me to let me know that the last thing that needed to be filed (proof that I've completed the financial management course), is in, and that my discharge is finally on its way. Definitely a relief, and I'm now very happy to add my postive review here, giving Rick my highest recommendation.

A+ Rating Bankruptcy Attorney

Atty. Gottlieb came highly recommended by a close friend of mine and he did not disappoint. My case was not an easy one as dealing with student loans in a bankruptcy situation most say is a no win situation, however Atty. Gottlieb is verse on the bankruptcy laws and especially with regard to the laws... governing private student loans as in my situation. For anyone who feels they are fighting an uphill financial battle and are thinking of going the route of a bankruptcy I recommend Atty. Richard Gottlieb. He has held my hand through this entire process, has kept me informed at every turn, he definitely deserves an A+ rating because he goes above and beyond for his clients

A master of his craft

I had the pleasure of consulting with Richard on an extremely complicated legal matter regarding bankruptcy, fraud and criminal charges. Richard had legal arguments for all of it. He understood the legal complexity of the case immediately and how to proceed. My advice to you is hire him. It will be ...a smart choice.

Five star attorney

I came across Mr. Gottlieb while seeking a bankruptcy attorney. His profile stood out far beyond the rest. Leaving a message through Avvo Mr. Gottlieb answered my query in a timely manner and set an appointment for a consultation. Mr. Gottlieb's confident, jovial and vast knowledge of the bankruptcy... system put me at ease thus acknowledging and confirming that I had made the correct choice in legal representation. Mr. Gottlieb is a gem among bankruptcy attorneys.

Richard Gottlieb Review

Bankruptcy is not an easy thing to go through. Chances are, like me, you have run into hardships and are in over your head. I went in to Richards office at one of the lowest points in my life. From the second I met him I knew things were going to be fine. He immediately put me at ease and ex...plained the process. He made it simple to understand, told me exactly what I needed to do and we started the process. Richard answered every question, answered every phone call, guided me every step of the way. Why should you hire Richard? Because Richard is the guy who teaches other attorneys bankruptcy. That’s the guy you want to hire! If you are thinking of filing bankruptcy just go and see him. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
