WORST ATTORNEY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!

I met with Cynthia back in late November to explain my case which at the time was going to take place in family court. She explained to me that this was her speciality so I hired her. The following day I was arrested and charged with a more serious crime. A crime where I would need a experienced t...rial lawyer. We agreed over the phone since other then the initial $150 consultation fee I paid her, she would give me a full refund of the money I paid her because she never did any work on my behalf. I didn't hear from her for almost 2 weeks so I contacted her by email and she said my check was on her desk ready to be mailed out. That was the last time she contacted me for another month. Fortunately I was able to hire another lawyer but I definitely could of used the money I paid her to pay him as he was much more expensive the she was due to the nature of the crime. I tried contacting her several times whether it be over the phone, email, text and I even stopped by her office to see if maybe something happened. I didn't hear back till January 10th because I sent her a certified letter threatening to take her to court and as well as report her to the board of overseers. The board of overseers is the disciplinary board in Massachusetts for attorneys if you want to file a complaint. Only at that point did she send me a letter letting me know I should be receiving a the check in a few days. At that point after still not getting my money back, I emailed her and said I would be filing a formal complaint to report her behavior with the bar of overseers in Boston. Even though every email I sent her was non threatening and basically just said to her I would like my money back and we can move on, she still had the nerve to send me a threatening email saying if I didn't stop harassing her she was going to contact my probation officer and get me in trouble. About a week after I contacted the bar of overseers to file a complaint, she FINALLY sent me back my refund in full. In all honestly my intentions were never to take it this far and I am sorry it had to come to this point. But I should have to go this far to get my money back from a woman that I initially hired to represent me. I made that very clear to her but it was almost like she just didn't seem to care. Her excuse for not contacting me was because she was supposedly sick. I hired her in late November and she finally returned my check on February 2nd. I received a call from the board and even though I told them she sent me my money back, they are still going to be looking into my claim. Good.
