The experience we had with Laura and her firm was more than we ever expected. My wife and I were seeking out of district placement for our daughter at the Perkins School for the blind. Matters with education are frustrating and confusing. You have very little power or insight into the inner workings of the school system and think if you go along with the processes your kids will be fine. This is not the case, you need someone who knows how to get the school meet their responsibil...ities. Our son stuggled for years with ADHD and the school knew it, but took no special action until he was facing expulsion - way too late. Different officials at the school had different stories of what his status was, how we need to proceed and what was next. We finally had enough and found Laura, and we should have sooner. She cut through the BS and called out the school on many issues. She also is no-nonsense with us, she tells it like it is and has a game plan, no flowery language or false promises - just what she can do for us and how to do it. With her help we got our son the IEP he should have had for years, placed in a temporary evaluation school and a plan to reintegrate him into the public school for his senior year. Had she been on our team earlier, my son would fared better. My advice? Hire Laura now if you have educational matters, and nip any issues in the bud.

I hired Laura Gillis Law after dealing with repeated compliance issues with my son's IEP. I met with Laura to review my issues and see if she could help. There were clear legal issues that we felt could be addressed and Laura discussed with me what we could do leading up to our meeting with the cit...y to have a very clear idea of what my son needed. I chose to have a neuropsych completed and to hire a consultant to review the classroom options that school offered. Laura and Associates were able to clearly prove where the city was failing my child, what needed to be done to correct these issues, and fought for the placement I believed was the best fit.
