Please read her reviews before hiring.

I hired Attorney Merril Chin to represent me in a divorce case. My goal was to have my case heard in front of a judge, but instead she kept postponing my pretrial hearing and turning it into settlement discussions I didn’t want. When I tried to express my concerns, she often became upset or dismissiv...e, which made me hesitant to speak up for fear she might drop me. The core issue in my case involved family trusts and inheritance questions, yet I saw no evidence that she had reviewed the documents or understood their importance. I was also charged for excessive assistant time, sometimes for repeated work, and when I questioned the charges, I was treated unprofessionally. The breaking point was when, while still representing me, she hired my ex-husband’s lawyer, who was actively representing him in the same case. I was blindsided and lost all confidence in her ability to represent me fairly, ultimately having to find new counsel.

Incompetent, rude and only cares about billing.

This was the worst experience i could ever imagine. She was rude and completely disrespectful. She asked for the same information over and over again. Usually one day before she billed and then would bill for trying to get same info that I already sent her. Case went nowhere and dragged on for months... with zero forward momentum. But bills kept coming right on time. She never seemed to remember any details of my case. Such a disaster and waste of money. Please look elsewhere.

Absolute worse!

This attorney is not only a farce she is also a liar, and a thieve. Don’t take anyone’s recommendation of this poor excuse of an attorney. Save your money and if your case is at all important then run to someone else who will actually defend you. Her associate is just as disgraceful, clearly she’s le...arning from the worst. Not only did her associate refuse to defend any part of my case in court, she repeatedly failed to file documents, follow up on motions etc but on top of it all she showed up to court late…I mean by almost an hour! If you think maybe she was preparing for the case and that’s why she ran late nope she freestyled everything…everything. She would stutter for 10 mins straight. She would stop the proceedings to ask me to elaborate on things that we had already covered multiple times and push me to settle everything and consent to motions in our custody agreement that I told her were crazy and against everything I was trying to protect our child against. When I would reach out to her boss Merril she had the audacity to scream at me and defend their incompetence. That’s all you need to know about that circus. Had 0 interest, 0 cares and 0 empathy for anything that didn’t involve you filling up her pockets. Oh and good luck if you’re looking for communication from these clowns!

Watch out

I had to provide points for her to argue rather than she, coming out with a defense herself. Does not fight you nor what's in the best interests of the children. Afraid to standup to other attorney's a disaster.

Proceed with Caution

Advertized as woman owned & operated which was appealing. Strange set up with a hybrid secretary attorney and Chin herself. Neither was welcoming, warm or gave the impression they knew what they were doing. The hybrid was full of herself for no apparent reason & Chin was straight up mean. I chose oth...er local counsel.
