Do not hire a lawyer who may threaten to sue you!

I hired Aaron Hutchins to prepare some legal documents. Fact: I was a client of Aaron Hutchins, I have a cancelled check to prove it. During the the initial consultation he took few or no notes. He did not want to look at the current documents I wanted revised. Fact: I have emails where he as...ked for basic information again and where there was confusion about what work I wanted done. He asked me to execute the documents although there were not yet revised to my satisfaction. Fact: Again I have an email where he asked for the execution of the documents. We never agreed to a schedule and although as the client I may have delayed the execution by not giving him the details of the desired changes which were extensive since he never reviewed the original documents we had for his review, and he instead just supplied a basic “template” document as a “draft” and wanted payment in full for the draft. Fact: I have an email where pricing for fully executed documents was agreed. Fact: He did not review our original documents. Fact: He provided only “templates” as “drafts” When I provided a schedule to complete the work to mutual satisfaction, Where I would agree to make my notes available to him in a more timely fashion, he outright refused. Instead he demanded payment within less than 4 business days or he would sue me. Fact: I have the email I sent him with the proposed schedule. Fact: I have his response of refusal. Fact: I have his threat to sue me, and demand for payment in less than 4 business days. Summary: There was never an agreed upon schedule. Documents were not provided to the satisfaction of the client - Me. There was never an actual invoice, just a threat demanding payment. Had this been a contractor working on a house, I would have had 30 days to pay after completion of the work. Instead I ended up with incomplete work and a short demand for payment for incomplete work. Fact: All of these claims can be backed up with email correspondence between Mr. Hutchins and me. Finally to the editors of Avvo, I you need any of the corroborating emails, or a copy of the cancelled check, I can provide all of it. I hope you demand such documentation from any positive reviews. Fact: I have this quote from Aaron Hutchins dated April 8’ “You’re welcome to pursue complaints against me with whatever bodies/groups you’d like. Full payment on or before April 13th, or I will initiate suit in small claims.” Therefore this is a fully legally allowable complaint against “Aaron Hutchins” To any readers who are still reading, although there may be some positive reviews for Aaron Hutchins, you don't want to have the troubles I had with him. Finally some speculation: Why did he demand payment just before tax day? Why was he available for a client on a holiday weekend? What might these imply about his finances?

Such a sad narrative. There are always two sides to every story. The client conveniently omitted the fact that I produced the agreed upon documents without any retainer or payment, as a courtesy to his family. The client also omitted that I created documents for their college bound child, at no extra costs. The client omitted that he had my full work product for nearly four months before I finally asked him to pay me. The client then demanded that I wait an additional three months for full payment or take only 25% of the agreed upon price and part ways. The world is full of bitter, angry people, whose true colors eventually come to light, despite having received the same excellent service given all of my clients, and from whom the positive testimonials far exceed anything to the contrary. What a shame.

Soft Spoken & Understanding Mediator

Going through a divorce is close to a death as it can get. A relationship has died and your life will change forever. The breakdown by has sadness , anger , resentment and many other emotions. Too many to list. I honestly have wondered what type of person who could insert themselves in this very dif...ficult time in any couples lives. I always had in my mind it would have to be a somewhat callous person in order to get through to the other side un tarnished. I was wrong. Attorney Hutchins was a soft spoken and understanding mediator. He kept things on track without us feeling corralled or pushed. Everyone can be defensive in this process and he took that away. Attorney Hutchins made it quick , easy and painless as possible. Thank you for your help and keeping us away from anger so we both can heal and create a new future.

What a tremendously thoughtful testimonial. Thank you Mike. You and your wife are the model of the kind of couple for which mediated divorce services were created. I wish you both the best moving forward.

Holiday Weekend Help

Over Memorial Day weekend, our son hit a tree while driving his vehicle. The incident resulted in 2 criminal and 2 civil citations. We had never dealt with anything like this. With only one day to find and prepare for our son's initial court hearing, I began a search for legal representation. I email...ed 4 attorneys and hoped, given the holiday weekend, that someone would see our plea for help and respond. That same day we not only received a response from Attorney Hutchins, but he also agreed to meet us that evening. We left the meeting well informed and felt prepared for the next day’s arraignment, in addition to feeling very fortunate that we found an attorney who dropped his holiday weekend activities to assist us. Not only did Attorney Hutchins secure the best possible results for our son, he remained in contact with us throughout the entire process. He also answered all our questions completely and thoroughly. We hope to never need legal advice again; but if we do, Attorney Hutchins will be our first call. If you or someone you know needs legal representation, we highly recommend Attorney Hutchins as a knowledgeable and competent advisor.

I am grateful for the kind words of this client. Finding an attorney at the last minute, or on a holiday can be a challenging task. I always try and make myself available: holiday, weekend, or other times.

Honest, Intelligent and Hard Working

Aaron Hutchins was my lawyer in a very difficult divorce lasting several years. Throughout the process I found him to be very knowledgable on the law, and honest in every aspect of his interactions with me. He was efficient with his time and his rates were more than fair. Aaron is not a lawyer... that falls into the drama that so many lawyers bring to the courtroom, and his ability to stick to the law and present the facts in a clear and concise manner was very refreshing. While the results of a divorce in Massachusetts can vary significantly based on the judge over the case, I felt that Aaron did all he could to protect my interests and present my side of the issues. My only constructive feedback would be that his unemotional, law based approach at times felt less aggressive against the opposing lawyer who took great artistic license in presenting her side of the divorce. I feel this had more to do with my disappointment in the judge who seemed to be swayed by the dramatic more than the actual facts and laws involved. It is good to be able to look over the process and know that my attorney and I acted fairly and honestly and that one day when my children ask about it I can tell them that I chose a lawyer who defended me with integrity and honesty. I would recommend Aaron to anyone who wants an honest lawyer... and those are extremely hard to find.

Better options out there for a divorce attorney

To begin this review, I will say that I took advice given by Attorney Hutchins' in another review and fired him. Here were my main issues with Attorney Hutchins: 1. I never felt that Aaron was looking out for my best interests or the interests of my young son. 2. Aaron was often argumentati...ve, and consistently tried to persuade me to agree to demands from my spouse. 3. Upon termination, Aaron also made it difficult to formally move on with my case by delaying the delivery of my records as well as formally removing himself from my case. I cannot state how Attorney Hutchins performs in other areas of law, but I would NOT recommend him for a divorce.

Divorces naturally evoke raw emotions for those participating in them. It is unfortunate when those emotions allow someone's judgment to become clouded. Divorcing spouses also need to comprehend that they will be forced to work together with their ex-spouse for many years to come, if children are involved. To expect a one sided divorce agreement is simply unreasonable. Example: When you accuse your spouse of being a drug addict, and court ordered testing reveals no drug use, best interests starts to look more like self serving interests. I always aim to avoid litigation, so as to save my clients further aggravation and money. Trials are expensive. And where I had agreed to represent this client on the promise of future payment, and where this client carried a $1,700 balance with my office, I worked diligently to keep her legal costs low and achieve an equitable settlement. Once again, I'm content to allow this negative review to stand. I encourage anyone to visit my website (www.attorneyhutchins.com) and read any of the more than 100 testimonials from other clients who were very satisfied with the legal services my firm provided in a number of areas, including divorce.
