James L. King II

J.L. King, II, often represents clients in jury trials and is one of the most experienced civil trial lawyers in Georgia. J.L. primarily represents catastrophically injured victims and the families of individuals who have died as a result of negligence. J.L. is licensed in both Georgia and Florida and regularly represents clients in both states. including those in Macon, where he serves as a trusted personal injury attorney in Macon.

J.L. has been involved in multiple jury trials on behalf of individuals or families severely affected by the negligence of others. Results include multiple jury trials where J.L.’s clients received million-dollar-plus judgments, including judgments exceeding $2 million and $5 million. Of course, many cases settle short of trial, and J.L. has been involved in multiple cases that resulted in recoveries of millions of dollars for their clients.

Before focusing on the representation of injured victims and their families, J.L. worked for one of the premier insurance defense firms in the Southeastern United States. In addition to defending trucking claims, he defended manufacturers, insurance companies, major retailers, and construction companies. Many of these claims sought damages in excess of $1 million, and several sought over $10 million.

As lead counsel, J.L. secured a zero verdict in a jury trial in which the plaintiff sought over $18 million in damages. J.L. is familiar with handling high-dollar claims and has learned from the inside how insurance companies handle them. Further, J.L. knows what motivates insurance companies to provide fair and full compensation for injuries. This knowledge helps him achieve the best possible result for clients, whether through a jury trial or an out-of-court settlement.

J.L. has also handled many complex matters involving a wide range of issues and multiple parties, including a trial with eleven parties present in court. J.L.’s prior work includes extensive experience handling agricultural and construction-related matters. In addition to his trial work, J.L. has handled numerous appeals and secured reversals of trial court decisions.

J.L. attended the University of Georgia School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2005. He received an M.B.A. and an undergraduate degree in business from Murray State University, where he also played on the men’s golf team.

J.L. and his wife, Brittney, live in Tifton with their sons, Tripp and Carlton. They’re members of First Methodist Church in Tifton. J.L. grew up on his parents’ farm in Zebulon, GA, and Brittney is from Cairo, GA, where her father coached football and served as the Cairo Syrupmakers’ athletic director.
