I have worked with Ellen since 2003 with great success due to Ellen’s contribution to the project efforts. Her assistance was directed at Real Estate contract transactions for a major Colorado bank dealing with over 30 locations. Ellen was consistently diligent, organized and responsive. When a ...little creativity was needed to make a deal happen she always had good ideas and was phenomenal and analyzing a situation. When I needed someone to get tough with another party in a deal, she could take a hard line without jeopardizing the deal. Most of all, we developed a trusting relationship that allowed me to accept her judgment knowing it was in the best interest of my client and myself. Ellen was very respectful of the short timeframe some projects posed with the use of her checklists saving many downstream tasks from being forgotten. A couple of deals Ellen was involved in would have taxed anyone’s patience. One in particular involved the purchase of a property from a semi-retired developer who ignored most of what he was required to do in the purchase agreement. Ellen eventually either found ways to get the seller to perform or found creative constructive ways around him. In another, our client needed an easement from a neighboring landowner in order to get the development plan approved. The landowner initially agreed to the easement, but every time we sent the easement agreement for signature, their lawyer found a new reason not to sign. Without Ellen’s perseverance, it might never have been signed. Ellen’s writing is one of her strengths. Many times I asked her to write pointed letters to move a client off dead-center, enforce a negotiating position or assist in a lawsuit situation. Ellen’s understanding of the implications of the associated legal points and clear understanding of what her direct customer wants to see in such agreements results in well crafted and timely documents. In short, Ellen is a valuable member of my real estate activities. As a lawyer, she is knowledgeable, thorough, and attentive to clients’ needs.
