Outcome: Plaintiff Verdict

Description: Jesse Magana was injured when the seatback on an acquaintance's Hyundai Accent collapsed backward in a crash. Magana was wearing his seatbelt at the time, but the belt stopped working once the seatback was flattened and Magana was thrown from the car and paralyzed. A jury returned a verdict of more than $8 million against Hyundai. The case is currently on appeal.
