Case Conclusion Date: March 7, 2011
Practice Area: Administrative Law
Outcome: won in US Supreme Court, 8-1 (my amicus brief is cited in footnote 9)
Description: In an 8-1 decision, the US Supreme Court held that federal agencies no longer can use the "internal personnel" exemption to the Freedom of Information Act to withhold records of public importance that have nothing to do with personnel management. I wrote the original trial briefs as an associate at Gendler & Mann and later wrote amicus briefs in the 9th Circuit and US Supreme Court on behalf of newspaper and journalist groups.
