Allen was not aggressive enough with my case, and was always afraid of what the opposing counsel would do if he would go after my ex or that my ex-wife would get angry. During my mediation he was continuously discussing with the mediator what was going to happen with the vacant lot in Renton that used to be a Ford dealership; with the result that I got the worst part of the deal and he was not even aware of what we (he and I) had signed. This was my first time at mediation and therefore I thought that I was duly represented by my lawyer; I believe that I could have prepared myself and done better without him.
During the course of my case, Allen would not return my phone calls or my e-mails and in several occasions I had to stop by his office to find out why was he not getting back to me.
When my friend told me that he has used him several times along with family members, I knew that I was in the right hands. He works on the weekends and keeps me informed. I know that nothing in Law is guaranteed, but he kept me positive and the outcome was amazing. Thank you Al!
I have had a very difficult child custody case that's gone on for years (no fault of ours) and Allen Dermody has taken great pains to ensure that my case gets the best possible legal care and attention. He's extremely detail oriented, and despite his often busy caseload, he continually comes up with good ideas on what we can do to further my case. His knowledge of the law is outstanding, as borne out by our several trips to court, in which we always prevail in matters of law (matters of opinion by the judge or commissioner notwithstanding). More than once, the judge has singled him out for praise in his knowledge of the law. He is appropriately aggressive in his legal actions, for which I am grateful, but he is never abrasive personally, very much a gentleman, and it's clear that other attorneys and members of the court enjoy working with him. But I think one of the greatest advantages of working with Mr. Dermody is that when you retain him, you get the expertise of the entire firm. He is the first to admit when he doesn't know something or when he thinks someone else might have a better idea, and he will make sure you are getting the best advice he can muster, regardless of its source. Finally, Mr. Dermody is very cognizant of my legal costs (I am a middle-class single parent), and has taken many steps to reduce those costs in both small and large ways. He very much wants to see me graduate from working with him to using a less expensive caseworker, or ideally, to close out the case altogether. Anderson Fields does not spend their money on an expensive office or perks for themselves, they are all about the client. I believe Mr. Dermody is in this business to help people, and I feel very lucky to have found him when I could have had an attorney like one of the two (so far) that we have opposed, who were nowhere near his caliber.
