About Me

I joined The Burton Law Firm in 2009 and work in the firm's transactional business, tax, and estate planning practices. I have experience in all phases of business and corporate law, including formation, investment, governance, and mergers and acquisitions. I have represented entities of all types, including for-profit, nonprofit, out-of-state, multi-state, domestic, and international. I am a skilled contract drafter and frequently review and negotiate agreements of all types. My tax practice focuses on tax controversy representation of businesses and individuals, business tax planning, and international transfer tax planning. I am the Chair of the Tax Section of the Sacramento County Bar Association for 2014. In the trust and estates field, my practice addresses asset protection matters and international estate and gift tax issues. My other professional associations include the Business Section of the SCBA, the Taxation Section and the Business Section of the American Bar Association, and the Sacramento Estate Planning Council.

I received my Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where I was named a member of the Roger J. Traynor Honor Society. I also obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento, and double-majored in Economics and Political Science while at the University of California, Davis. I am presently a candidate for a Master of Laws (LLM) in Transnational Business Practice from McGeorge (emphasis in tax) with an expected graduation date of December 2015.

Prior to joining the firm, I worked as an extern for the California State Board of Equalization’s Tax Appeals Assistance Program, as a research assistant for McGeorge Tax Professor Christine Manolakas, and as a staff writer and editor for the McGeorge Law Review.
