About Me

My Background. I have been practicing in Northern California for my whole career.  I graduated from Stanford Law School and jumped into courtroom practice for many years, culminating in a large group of related construction defect cases in which I helped almost 500 home owner families recover millions of dollars as a result of defects in their homes.  Now I have slowed down and live a much more low intensity life.  My practice has no litigation anymore. I prefer to do most of the work using documents delivered on line to keep the costs low and the staffing really simple. Living and practicing in Watsonville for many years,

Real Estate. I have a long career in real property law with the aim of helping people through the requirements of life that is complicated in these times.  Having clear and yet simple documents to purchase, lease and use property as you wish to is one area that I am quite interested in.  I have learned how to create good documentation by handling hundreds of lawsuits where the documents were unclear and parties spent many thousands of dollars fighting about what the requirements actually were.  Now I don't do litigation cases any longer but pass the benefits of this experience along to keep folks from having to go through litigation. I have developed a lot of skills related to the agricultural community, but I have done and continue to do many residential and commercial transactions.

Trusts. I am also interested in preparing trusts for families which are meant to replace the older ways of having just a will.  With a revocable trust, you can not only avoid having probate after a family member passes away (and keep the transfers to the next generation simple, way less expensive and private).  I am doing this in a cost effective way, giving personal attention but generally having a flat rate for the whole package with complete instructions of how to put the trust and other documents into operation and how to transfer property into the trust.

Non Profit Corporations. Starting in the 1970's, I have been helping non-profit organizations get organized, to get and keep their tax exemptions and to handle the relations they have with the rest of the community.  I have helped and continue to help many organizations and keep up to date on the requirements.  I represent schools, conference centers, spiritual organizations and children's assistance organizations.  I try to keep the fees in this area as cost effective as possible.
