I have known and utilized Sterling as a lawyer for approximately 10 years. Sterling has provided guidance and advice to my Ship Repair Company on issues ranging from maritime law to USL&H claims. Sterling was our lead attorney on a potentially messy claim relating to an injured customer. Very early Sterling infomed me of all possible outcomes with the eventual outcome being the best one that was presented to me in that early meeting. I deal with many lawlers in many different areas of business and I can say that Sterling is a top notch attorney and a great guy.
Our small business was sued for damages resulting from an incompetent and disgruntled employee who injured himself as a result of his own actions. Attorney Stires was assigned the case by our insurance company. Mr. Stires spent considerable time and energy to aggressively defend our position. His knowledge and use of Admiralty Law combined with his work ethic resulted in a most favorable outcome for our business and our insurance company.
We were so impressed we insisted Mr. Stires be named as counsel of record on our maritime policies. This action paid off as we were once again sued; this time as a third party in an injury suit. Attorney Stires built a solid case that went to trial. The outcome found our company free of any liability in the case whatsoever...a complete victory.Another attorney might just as easily settled in customeary fashion. Mr. Stires weighed the cost/benefit analysis properly and pushed for the trial with confidence. We strongly recommend Mr. Stires.
Overall stellar attorney. Extremely knowlegable and responsive. He was excellent in mediation, and his overall work helped us settle a tough case.
Sterling assisted me with a difficult Jones Act claimant who was represented by a particularly slimey plaintiff's counsel. Sterling didn't hesitate to go toe-to-toe for us (a group of participating underwriters), we ended up getting the claimant's attorney personally sanctioned and ultimate a good result for the claim.
