I was researching attorneys online like most people that havent found themselves in a situation before where needing an attorney was necessary. Not knowing any attorneys personally and not fully understanding my situation I came across Lessem & Newstat website and am I glad I did. Josh and his staff were extrememly helpful. Josh went above and beyond to make sure I received the best possible outcome in my case. He was able to negotiate a better deal than I was even expecting. I can not say enough good things about this law firm. If you are trying to choose the right attorney for your situtation make sure he is at the top of your list. He made sure the outcome was quick and easy.
Joshua Newstat was truly extraordinary in the way he handled our case: from his high level of proffesionalism, high regard for our lack of experience in this realm, and consistent communication pertaining to our case status. Joshua was referred to us by our trust and deeds attorney. His educational and work experience gave me the confidence to hire him, but this recent experience has ensured that I will be an avid promoter of Attorney Joshua Newstadt. I am completely satisfied with his service and outcome.
Imagine..if you can - having just been on a flight from Australia in Business Class; drinking the requisite champagne and enjoying a good movie. You land at the airport and are handsomely escorted off the aircraft by your first class purser and airline staff. Off to customs and the functional passport swipe to start the morning back in the US. Except, this time (after 17 years of international travel), rather than an entrance stamp, I was handcuffed and ignored for 4 hours, before I was told that I had a 16 year old warrant for grand theft. Enter Josh and his crew. My spouse found Josh via the AVVO site and immediately was drawn to the fact that he had available resources in LA County and SB County -- as I was currently in the bowels of the LA system. Josh's associate came to see me within hours, reviewed my rights as it pertained to communication with law enforcement (let me help everyone with that one - DON'T EVER TALK TO THEM) and advised that I was facing a rough road with respect to county-to-county transfer and ultimately the hearing in Santa Barbara. My case was literally 16 years old, with very little information available for review by either Josh’s crew or the justice system in SB. My first interaction was with Megan, his assistant. I will admit, I was frustrated with her approach - until I finally realized that with a case as old as mine - there was a process that couldn’t possibly move any faster than I willed it to. I’m a fairly aggressive guy (communication) and I think I may have been a little much for our initial meetings. She was professional and answered my questions; but alas, could not provide any solutions as the process couldn’t yield any — not her fault. Finally, the week of Thanksgiving enters Josh. He reviewed the case and had his initial meeting with me. I explained my position, the history of what I could remember and asked that we fast track a solution. My primary objective was not me, but to protect my spouse and workplace which desperately needed me out of custody to perform critical functions. Josh heard me and put a plan together to make that happen. That was on a Monday. Josh worked with information that was 16 years old to fashion the best defense and influence an understanding from the District Attorney that was fair, relevant and took into consideration that I had no criminal activity for over 15 years. Definitely a tall order. He continued the case until Wednesday - and 100% delivered on the plan to get me released. Not only was I released with an incredibly fair disposition, but I was able to travel back to my home State immediately. That’s the case — a little about Josh. You need to be very factual, you need to be very direct and you absolutely need to hold your ground if you feel the facts, background and resolution are at hand. He will give you an honest and true assessment of where you and your case stand — listen to him. It’s ok to be forceful, but find a way to meld his assessment with your desire. If you do, your case will pass quickly and you’ll be onto greener pastures. In short - HIRE HIM.
Faced with some very serious charges, I contacted Josh to handle my case after seeing his considerably impressive track record. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Josh was prompt, professional and to the point; Josh and his team started working on my case immediately after hiring them. Josh and his investigator Tony kept me up-to-date with their progress & even helped me deal with the residual effects of the case upon my schooling (I am a UCSB student). Due to Josh and his team's efforts, the charges against me were not filed, I am still a free man with no criminal record. I cannot impress upon you enough that Joshua Newstat & associates are the best in the business.
I have worked with Josh Newstat on numerous cases, both civil and criminal. He has always been very attentive to his clients and fiercely protective of their interests. I refer clients to Josh without hesitation, confident that he will competently handle their cases.
Joshua was the 2nd lawyer to try to help me and he did an incredible job. He didn’t “try”, he succeeded. I was in serious trouble with drug charges, and my first lawyer said there was really nothing anyone could do for me. Joshua was thorough and aggressive and did not give up. He spent a lot of time on my case and all charges were dismissed.
From a professionalism standpoint, an overall knowledge base in just about every area of the law, and an approachable voice on the other end of the phone, there is no better legal team to call upon. Having utilized the services of Lessem and Newstat for various legal matters including contracts, collections, and employee related matters enables me to have an extra layer/umbrella of confidence conducting business as an entrepreneur.
Unfortunately I work with too many attorneys, and am extremely familiar with what to expect. I interviewed several to find the right one for my wrongful criminal charge. Joshua Newstat and his firm are by far the best and exceeded all of my expectations. I felt like a VIP immediately, and was really comfortable with Joshua during this difficult time in my life. I also ask a lot of questions, and Joshua never made me feel like I was bothering him (even when he was in the midst of a big trial!) I’m usually too busy to write any reviews like this, but Joshua and his firm really went above and beyond and I am thrilled with the result - CHARGES DROPPED!
I recommend never getting a DUI. But, if you do, like I did, go straight to Joshua Newstat. I was so scared and Joshua made sure I understood everything that was happening, every step of the way. He also calmed down my mom! I will never get a DUI again, but I would go to Joshua for any legal needs. I highly recommend him!!
Joshua Newstat is one of the best attorneys I have ever worked with. When my 20 year old son got himself in trouble with multiple counts against him, I needed someone who knew the Ventura County court and legal system. After speaking with and interviewing multiple lawyers, I had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua. He immediately understood my son's situation and assured us that things were not as bad as they might seem at this time. What impressed me the most about how Joshua does business, is that I believe that he genuinely cared about my son's well being. He not only took care of all legal issues, but he gave my son great advice to help get him on the right path for his life. I can not tell you how much that has meant to me as a parent. Joshua was very fair in his billing and actually worked with us to keep our costs down. The outcome of my son's proceedings were outstanding. After starting off with two felonies and multiple misdemeanors, Joshua was able to get the court to reduce the counts to a couple of misdemeanors for which he received probation. We are thrilled with the outcome. If you are in trouble, you can trust this man.
