When a seemingly imperfect perfect storm started brewing, beginning with a 2:30am call to my cell phone from an investigating police officer, I responded by my book - after listening to the voice mail the officer left when I woke up at 6:00am, I jumped on my laptop, went right to AVVO.com, and did a search for Domestic Violence Defense Attorneys in Ventura, CA. I then sorted the results by rating - lo and behold, there in front of me was a Perfect "10" - Joshua Erin Newstat.

From that moment on, he was my man. You see, I have now used dozens of lawyers over the years; it’s been hard to find good ones. My ratio of bozos to legal virtuosos has, unfortunately, been about 2 to 1. But since I discovered AVVO.com, my success rate has changed dramatically and for the better. You see, I now only hire AVVO “10” attorneys and I suggest you do likewise. I have hired three different “10” attorneys through AVVO, one for Family Law, one for Bankruptcy, and now Josh Newstat for Criminal Domestic Violence Defense. And I have been completely and utterly successful with all three!!

I called Josh’s law office at 6:30am and, holy moly, someone actually answered the phone at that early hour of the morning!! I explained to situation to a very nice woman and she immediately patched me into to an attorney from the law office. I told the attorney I spoke with that I only wanted to work with Josh because he was a “10”. The attorney advised me to sit tight until I spoke to Josh, who would be available around 8:00am. He said don’t call the police back until Josh was driving the legal train because anything I said could be used against me, which was very important for me to hear. You see, generally, I’m the kind of guy who, although I have the right to remain silent, I usually lack the ability...I just LOVE to talk!! But I also now know, the more you talk to the cops, whether innocent or guilty, the greater the likelihood you will make your situation worse, not better. Let skilled professionals like Josh do the talking to the fuzz for you, always – not matter what the situation.

So at about 8:00am, Josh calls me back. And like I imagined, he was a consummate pro!! He listened to my situation, and started directing actions – and most importantly, put me at ease. We arranged to meet in his office at 10:00am to deal with the retainer, which was very reasonable, and call the Private Investigator to find out the real and the “rest of the story”. Josh just makes things happen – fast. The Investigator was immediately dispatched and by 2:00pm that same day, he had completed the important components of his investigation.

After that, everything fell into place beautifully – within two weeks, the DA decided to file NO charges because Josh “10” Newstat had shown that NO crime was committed. During that two week period, Josh checked in with me numerous times to make sure I was handling the situation well, which I was. Here’s the thing though – after talking with Josh the first time, I was NEVER worried because I knew he would handle everything perfectly, which he did. If you are ever involved in a legal criminal pickle, find the money and hire Josh - the best money you'll ever spend!!

A had a few criminal related issues. Joshua Newstat and his partner literally made the case against me go away. Since that time I have reccommended a few of friends to Lessem & Newstat and they had all had nothing but great things to say. If you get into trouble these are the guys you want.

My wife and I are so grateful to Joshua. We needed a lawyer immediately, but did as much research as possible before choosing. My wife's co-worker recommended Joshua with flying colors- I guess he had gotten her son out of some SERIOUS trouble. Anyway, we felt so hopeless in our situation. Then we met with Joshua, and since then, never looked back.

He took a lot of time answering all of our questions. He calmed us down during many freak outs- we were so afraid of losing everything, my job, etc. We also met one of his partners. These guys are a class act.

But obviously, that in itself is not enough. I trusted him but was still terrified and skeptical of the so-called justice system. BUT, Joshua is a miracle and got all charges DROPPED!

This is actually over now. We can breathe for the first time. He never missed a beat and is smarter than all those guys.

We're actually going to meet with him again soon over a potential law-suit-- He does it all!

Joshua is a fantastic lawyer. He did such a great job with my case. I also sent a friend and also my Uncle and they have thanked me many times since. I did not know where to go or what to do when I need an attorney. I was so lucky to find Joshua. He made me feel like I was in the best hands. He has that rare talent of making you feel like you are not alone, that he does care, and that he is a "normal guy", but really he is an aggressive genius attorney. He is not judgmental at all. I felt like a VIP client and was so happy with the outcome. I hope I don't need a lawyer again, but no matter what, I will always return to Joshua. Also, I have never posted a review before, but I am doing this to help all the future people that need a great lawyer, and fast, like I did.
