Without hesitation, my opinion is that my grandson and family were hugely fortunate that The Heller Law Firm represented us in what turned out to be a very complicated case of medical negligence. My joy and excitement only moments before the birth of my first grandchild turned into panic and desperation while hospital staff attempted to resuscitate him. The medical and physically disabling consequences of my grandson’s brain injury due to an unfortunate and unnecessary traumatic birth slowly emerged over the next couple of years. For me, it was a personal struggle to both acknowledge and confront the obvious permanent disabilities that my little grandson would be challenged with at such a young age and for the rest of his life. Moreover, the notion of pursuing a complicated and likely long legal battle of medical negligence against healthcare providers was not something I was eager to pursue and nor was I optimistic that we would have good results. However, we were highly encouraged to seek personal injury legal advice from Stephen Heller and his daughter, Shayne Heller LaChapelle. At our first meeting with Mr. Heller, Ms. LaChapelle and their support staff, we were reassured that the forthcoming legal process would be managed professionally and would move along as easy and efficiently as possible. Most important and comforting for me was the ease of communicating with Mr. Heller, Ms. LaChapelle and the support staff specifically assigned to us for the entire duration of our case. They are always only an email or telephone call away and any of our concerns or telephone calls received a quick and courteous reply. All calendaring of meetings, depositions and court appearances were timely and efficiently managed by the specific support staff assigned to our case. Mr. Heller and Ms. LaChapelle successfully litigated my now 5-year old grandson’s case and with a final settlement result that is presently providing for his much needed and costly clinical and medical services such as speech, occupational and physical therapy. We are most fortunate to have sought the expert legal advice and services of Mr. Heller and Ms. LaChapelle and are so very grateful that the final results of this legal journey are presently providing the medical and clinical services that are benefiting and improving my little grandson’s quality of life.

There are not enough superlatives in my repertoire to describe how I feel about Stephen Heller, both as an attorney and as a human being. Before I met him, I had interviewed with several attorneys who would not represent me, even though my medical malpractice case had merit. Because there is a cap on the monetary award for my kind of lawsuit, it just was not worth their time. It was my good fortune to find Steve and he took my case. Over a long and difficult five years, he was professional, reliable, insightful and meticulous to detail. Litigation is not pleasant, or easy, but throughout he was supportive and considerate, and, most important, he was understanding and patient with me, given the enormously emotional nature of my lawsuit. Stephen Heller is not the stereotypical attorney. He has a keen understanding of the law and absolute dedication in the pursuit of justice for his clients. I will always be grateful to him for his devotion to his work and for helping me in my time of need. While 10 stars might do him justice, AVVO only allows 5. I highly recommend him to others… in a heartbeat.

Steve helped my wife and I through the most difficult time in my life. He is not only professional, through, knowlegable and tenacious, but perhaps just as important, personable and caring. Steve handled the process beginning to end proffesionally, competently and successfully. I would highly reccomend him.
