Robert T. Hinds Jr. is the founder of Hinds and Hinds Family Law, P.C., formerly Robert T. Hinds, Jr. and Associates. Bob was born in Jamaica, New York, and attended Drew University. He relocated to Colorado and graduated from the University of Denver School of Law in 1967, and was admitted to the Colorado Bar in 1968.
Bob distinguished himself as a bright young attorney immediately. He was appointed to serve as a county judge in Jefferson County at the age of 30. He dedicated himself to family law in 1972 and was among the first to specialize in family law in Colorado and has focused on this area of law since. Bob is a highly regarded family law practitioner, lecturing extensively to both lawyers and judges in the field of family law. He has served on committees and has taken leadership roles resulting in the development of many of today’s family law statutes. Until 2007, Bob co-authored the domestic forms that were published for public use.
Bob has been a leader in the family law community for over 40 years, and continues to take on the most challenging and complex domestic cases. In 2010, He was given the prestigious Icon Award from the Colorado Bar Association, an award for significant contribution to the practice and advancement of family law in Colorado. Bob, along with his wife, Donna together received the President’s Award from the Metro Denver Interdisciplinary Committee for lifetime achievement in 2015.
Bob is a regular lecturer on family law and presents four to five times annually between the Family Law University of Continuing Legal Education, the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Colorado Chapter and through the Judicial Education Liaison Committee of the Academy which I chair. Bob gives presentations to judicial officers, particularly to those that are newly appointed to the general areas of family law. Bob is past President of the Family Law Section, the Arapahoe Bar Association, the Metropolitan Interdisciplinary Committee, and the Colorado Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Bob continues to limit his practice to family law. And, along with his son and partner, Rob, produced the Colorado Domestic Relations Forms published by Lexis Nexis for a number of years.
Bob has a brilliant legal mind and puts together the best closing arguments I have ever seen. I have done my best to adopt his style (for closing arguments) and it has improved my practice as a result. I would not hesitate to recommend him, especially for a high-income case.
