What I do:
I focus exclusively on family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, modification, enforcement, and pre- and post-marital agreements. I am also regularly court-appointed to advocate for the best interest of children.
I understand that I am meeting my new clients during what is often the worst time of their lives. Heartbreak, betrayal, tears, anger, profound sadness, fear, worry, confusion, feeling out of control... I see all of this and treat my clients well, with caring and warmth, while still remaining their vigilant, no-nonsense advocate. I know that clients want an expeditious, cost-effective resolution to their case, and I do my best to deliver. I am also shrewd and realistic and tell my clients what they need to hear, even if it isn't always what they want to hear.
How my practice differs:
There are a lot of good attorneys to choose from, but some of the things that set me apart are accessibility, flexibility, and diligence.
While I have a legal assistant, I am my clients' main point of contact. That means that my clients aren't passed off to paralegals or associate attorneys who aren't familiar with the intricacies of their cases. Sure, you may occasionally talk to my legal assistant, but when it comes to the substance of your case, you will be communicating with me.
I have a flexible litigation style. We can adopt a very cooperative approach when you want to expend as little financial and emotional capital as possible, or we can adopt a much more aggressive approach depending on the facts of your case. No two cases are identical, so it's important to have an attorney who doesn't have a one-size-fits-all approach to their cases. Not every case requires a bulldog, but some cases do call for a heavy hand instead of a soft touch.
I am diligent. I am detail-oriented without losing sight of the big picture and am well-prepared. Your pleadings will be well-reasoned and precise. When I communicate or file documents on your behalf, those items will be well-written. When I appear in court on your behalf, my conduct will be professional and my arguments sound and as effective as possible.
I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Houston with a double major in English (concentrating in linguistics) and psychology. I then graduated in the top 25% of my class from South Texas College of Law. While at South Texas, I interned at the South Texas College of Law Legal Clinic where I provided family law services to low-income clients and was awarded the Pro Bono Honors Designation for dedicating extra time to the Legal Clinic. I also received the American Jurisprudence Award for earning the highest grade in my Research and Writing class. In addition to practicing law, I have spent many years as an adjunct instructor, teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages at Lone Star College – North Harris.
I have lived in Spring, Texas since 1984. I was a classical singer in college and still enjoy singing.
