J. Steven (Steve) Anderson has practiced in the area of Family Law and Litigation since 1983. He is a native of Memphis, Tennessee. He founded the J. Steven Anderson Law Firm to specialize in family law after having been a partner in two larger law firms that catered a more general practice. Mr. Anderson's goal is to protect your interest in premarital, divorce, post-divorce and other situations where specialized experience and expertise in family law is essential. His experience and ability to work closely with other professionals specializing finance, estate planning, business transactions offers the client the advantage of a broad perspective in determining how to best approach the complex issues associated with premarital, divorce and post-divorce matters. He has been trained in general mediation and has received specialized training for mediation Family Law issues.

Mr. Anderson assists men and women in negotiation, mediation and litigation of:

Premarital and Post-marital Agreements: including consultation, negotiating and drafting valid and enforceable agreements, and review of existing agreements to determine if they are valid and enforceable.

Divorce: including "no fault,""uncontested," "contested," and "high conflict" divorce, financial planning in anticipation of divorce, property division, spousal support (alimony), parenting privileges and obligations (custody and child support).

Post-Divorce Issues: including modification of existing court orders regarding spousal support, child support, child custody, child relocation and others.

IN RE: ESTATE OF Clifford Franklin BAKER, et al. v. Lee KING, et al.Mr. Anderson successfully argued to the Court of Appeals for reversal of the trial court's ruling that the Premarital Agreement signed by the his client in 1976 was valid and enforcable.
WILLIAM ALAN WATERMEIER v. SHERRY DUNAWAY MOSS AND THOMAS R. MOSS, IIIMr. Anderson successfully argued that the requirements of Tenn. Code Ann. § 36-2-304(b)(2) had not been met and that Appellant is the child's biological and legal father. The Appellate Court reversed the ruling of the trial court and remanded.
DONNA MARIE TAIT v. WILLIAM FRANK TAITThe Tennessee Court of Appeals affirmed and upheld the trial court's ruling that Mr. Anderson's client would not have to pay alimony despite his very high income.
