About Me

I was born in Greenville, Alabama in 1948.  After some years overseas as the son of a career military officer, I grew up in Mobile and attended the University of Alabama where I received my undergraduate degree in 1970.  I attended law school at the University of Virginia where I received my law degree in 1974.  I received a Rotary International Postgraduate Fellowship in 1977 and attended the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, from which I received the Diploma of Roman Law in 1978.

While at the University of Alabama, I was elected to membership in Omicron Delta Kappa, Jasons, Phi Eta Sigma.  I received the Delta Kappa Epsilon (Deke) International Leadership award.  He served as President of the University of Alabama Student Government Association and received the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award.  While in law school, I and my partner won the University of Virginia William Minor Lile Moot Court Competition and I received the Stephen Pierre Traynor Award for most outstanding final round oral argument.

In my thirty-three years of law practice in general civil litigation, approximately fifty-percent of his practice has been devoted to eminent domain and land value litigation.  For the first ten years, I have primarily represented agencies and for the past twenty-three years I have primarily represented land owners.
