Let me put it to you nicely. This attorney over charged me wanted me to sign my home over to him for payment. I ended up doing my case pro se since he drained me out of money and had private conversations with the other attorney and didnt inform me. I did complain to the good old boys club but they refused to do anything that is why he has no complaints against him.

Did nothing, ruined the case, quit. Had to hire another attorney. Was more interested in money than the case.

The following is paragraph 2 of the Mediation Agreement that my attorney, Thomas McGowan, said was fine and I should sign.
2. Marital Home: On or before March 31, 2012 the Husband shall pay the Wife $50,000 (Fifty Thousand no/100 Dollars) in exchange for her interest in the marital home. The Husband shall make a reasonable effort to refinance the note on the marital home in his name alone. In the event that the Husband cannot refinance the marital home in this manner, he agrees to hold the Wife harmless from any and all liability associated with the marital home and indemnify her with regard to same. Upon receipt of the $50,000 (Fifty Thousand no/100 Dollars) payment the Wife agrees to execute, prepare, and deliver a Quit Claim Deed to the Husband.
I had never heard of the term "hold harmless". I asked my attorney if this was okay, if I would be protected. He assured me this is fine, that I would be protected. After the fact of signing, I later found out that I'm not protected from the mortgage company. I feel, if my attorney were protecting me as his client, he would have had the wording stating that I didn't have to give up my rights to the house (Quit Claim) UNTIL my husband was able to refinance the house to get my name off of the mortgage. My ex is now telling me he doesn't qualify to refinance...so...if he were to die today or never try again to refinance, I will owe $205,000 on a mortgage and I have no claim on the house at all. What attorney would not advise their client to not sign the document as worded but have the document state that as soon as ex refinances, THEN wife would sign Quit Claim?? He informed me I would be protected...he never told me I would NOT be protected from the mortgage company. One pays their attorney very good money hoping they will protect them legally from any ramifications that could arise. I do not feel he protected me in this case at all.

Mr. McGowan is a top-notch, no nonsense attorney. He is straight and to the point and the most honest attorney I have ever met. He has handled several cases for me and has done a superb job on each. Most attorneys I have dealt with are solely out to make a buck. This IS NOT the case with this attorney. I feel that he actually cares about your legal pains and wants to help you in anyway that he can. Three major cases he handled for me was a very ugly divorce and adoption case. He cleaned up and completed a divorce that my formal attorney screwed up and had the adoption reversed which is not an easy task in any state. He just recently had a creditor overturn harmful information in my credit report that they refused to do for several months even with proof of payment. Mr. McGowan went after this collector with every legal avenue he could take and they finally caved. You would be a fool not to choose this attorney.

I found Mr McGowan to be an exceptionally gifted attorney. His professional competency, ethics, & knowledge base are beyond reproach. He takes extreme pride in the quality of his work & ensures that the client's interests are well represented. I have seen him perform in court as well as in arbitration & he acquits himself very well. I have recommeded at least three other client's to him, & would continue to unhesitatingly recommend others to this fine, outstanding attorney!
