My original divorce was finalized in March 2004 and I was ordered to pay a large monthly amount of permanent alimony. I met with Attorney Barkus in July 2014 to move forward with a modification action. She was the only attorney that I met wirh over the last several years that believed in my case. As a result of her reprsesentation, I was able to completely elimate my permanent alimony by providing a one time cash settlement to my ex-wife. I recently retained a Cerfiifed Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA) designation and plan to work with attorney Barkus and her clients.
Lori is a professional, compassionate, and competent lawyer. I have collaborated on cases with her for many years as well as utilized her services myself. She is thorough, effective and personable. I highly recommend her to anyone needing a family law attorney!
Working with Lori and her staff was a very positive experience. She is very professional in her approach to the law. We developed a good working relationship that minimized my legal fees and more importantly my exposure to many of the unwarranted claims and demands of opposing counsel. Divorce in Florida is a ridiculous event and Lori navigated the process extremely well.

Lori is an amazing attorney. Lori took on my alimony modification case that was 5 years old and mid trial. Lori was the 3rd attorney on my case, and in a short amount of time she had my case settled. Not only is Lori an amazing attorney she is also a compassionate human being. A very rare find in an attorney.

We used Lori to handled our second-parent adoption. She was professional, knowledgeable and kept us abreast of everything that was taking place and what would happen during the court proceeding. She was fully prepared and always available to answer any questions we had, making it a smooth and easy process. We would recommend her to anyone looking for a family law attorney.

Was a client for divorce mediation and court document preparation. I found a general lack of attention to detail. Unfortunately, we were forced to hire another attorney to fix the inadequacy of her work.

I had an extremely poor experience with Lori. The process was very different than she had explained. She never returned my phone calls or responded to my requests to speak with her.
However, Her secretary was very polite and helpful.

I am an attorney who does not practice family law. When I needed to obtain a relocation order in my divorce I retained Lori's services. I did not know Lori before this, but had heard good things about her.
From the start, Lori was incredibly responsive and kept me informed at all times. Lori successfully obtained my relocation order and her fees were very reasonable. I cannot recommend Lori highly enough.

I went through a tough divorce last year (they're all tough, especially if you need a lawyer). Originally hired a different attorney who was uncommunicative, generally apathetic and unprepared. I switched to Lori Barkus on a recommendation from a friend, and was amazed at the difference. She returned emails and phone calls almost immediately (and when she was unavailable, her acumenical assistant did), and even though her caseload was probably high, she still seemed to care about mine. I highly recommend Lori.
