When I first came home from my injury in Afghanistan, I was confused and did not know who to turn to. But after contacting Gillis, Mermell & Pacheco and speaking with Mr. Mermell and the staff and after my options was explained to me by Mr. Mermell, I felt a little more comfortable and over the few months that Mr. Mermell handled my case, I found him to be very professional and knowledgeable and I am 100% satisfied with every process taken. I recommend Mr. Mermell and his firm to any of my friends and family with any type of legal questions or concerns, especially Defense Base Act cases for civilian men and women injured in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I had no idea what to do after I got injured in Afghanistan where I was working as a camera center operator. I looked up lawyers that handle Defense Base Act cases on the internet, and I went through a bunch of them and then chose this law firm because they were up front with me whenever I called and I felt comfortable with the lawyer when I explained my situation. They did not flake on me like several of the other lawyers I spoke with. I was satisfied with the answers I was given on the phone on my initial consult and my lawyers expedited getting things started. You guys did a solid job. Earned my trust right off the bat being honest with me and ultimately got me a great result. I would highly recommend the services of this law firm to any injured party coming back from an injury in Iraq or Afghanistan.
After struggling to find a lawyer for two years, I was so so pleased to find this law firm of Gillis, Mermell & Pacheco. There are very few lawyers who know how to handle a case for someone injured on a military base under the non-appropriated funds Act. You guys were like my heating pad to the pain in my back. I am a teacher and was working for the Navy and I injured my back while trying to catch a baby from falling to the floor. I was very pleased with the result because you guys were able to get a settlement amount that I never expected. I highly recommend this law firm to anyone injured on a military base. The staff is excellent. They were calling me all the time, making sure I was OK and very concerned about my case.
I was injured on the job and a friend recommended me to Clifford Mermell. Once I spoke with his secretary and made an appointment, they immediately saw me and got me to a doctor that took good care of me. And see that I had got my compensation while I was out of work. And had to fight for me several times and settled my case and I was a happy camper. And Liz, my paralegal, kept me informed of everything and made sure I went to all my doctor appointments and answered all the questions that I had to ask. Thank you Ms. Liz! I recommend this lawyer to anyone injured out at the port.
I was working in Afghanistan and one morning we were hit by a large bomb. Not knowing what was going to happen, a coworker told me about the law firm of Gillis, Mermell & Pacheco. Once I made contact with this law firm, the knowledge that they had about my situation was astonishing. I really felt comfortable with the direction and counseling that they gave me and a year after the accident, I am still happy with this firm. My case was just closed and I am 100% satisfied with what they did for me. I highly recommend this firm to anyone injured overseas.
While working overseas as a law enforcement mentor/advisor, I was injured in the line of duty. July 2, 2013 I was involved in a blast in Kabul Afghanistan. A few weeks later I was recommended to call the law firm of Gillis, Mermell & Pacheco and I was advised that the law firm would be able to help myself and many others with injury cases under the Defense Base Act. After returning stateside in Oct, 2013, I again made contact with this law firm and they expeditiously started working on my case. I had a difficult case and the insurance company played hard ball with me, but my attorney was tough and turned the case around in my favor. Within one year the case was settled and my injuries were taken care of. I highly recommend the law firm of Gillis, Mermell & Pacheco in the future and to anyone who may need their services involving an injury. Find them at www.gmpcomplaw.com.
I was injured in Iraq and I was looking for a lawyer who could handle this type of case involving Defense Base Act injuries. I hired one lawyer who did nothing for me, and then I fired him and found Mr. Mermell on the internet. I have been happy ever since. From day one, he showed me that he knew what he was talking about and that he could handle my case. I put all my trust in him and he has not let me down. I would recommend him to anyone who needs a good lawyer who will work for them. I feel he is knowledgeable, respectful for your feelings, very caring and will not leave you in the dark like my other lawyer did. He will get the job done!

Through emails, we were able to get the process started while I was still in Afghanistan. I would tell anyone injured on the job overseas to contact these guys. They effectively handled my Defense Base Act claim.
