I came to Charlie with a very difficult case. I was facing a DUI charge which threatened not only my license but also my career and livelihood. Upon my first meeting, Charlie laid out my options and walked me through the entire process from start to finish. He put me at ease with the situation; however, he never got my hopes up or gave me a false sense of security. He was honest, direct, and most importantly, calming during my most stressful times. He gave me a four page memo which described not only the facts of DUI cases in Georgia, but also the emotions I would be feeling throughout the entire process. Was charged with a DUI earlier in 2012. Hired a lawyer (NOT CHARLES) who was recommended to me through a family friend. It started with zero communication from my attorney and he/she actually made me feel like I was guilty of everything I was charged with. Then after my lawyer's first meeting with the cops attorney, I was presented with DUI, 1 year no license and 30 days in jail, but told if I went to trial that I'd "probably get no more than DUI, 1 year no license and 1 day in jail."

After this proposal, I decided to seek a second opinion from my corporate attorney who STRONLY suggested Charles. Charles informed me that in addition to having been presented with a terrible offer, my previous lawyer also sold me up the river which meant that any outcome at all would still cause me to lose my license for a year. Now Charles had two obstacles to overcome...

HE DID IT! Charles got me off on "Failure to follow rules" in addition to zero points on my license and no suspension! And this all happened in less than a day!!! Coming to meet Charlie with a DUI charge was stressful and emotional in ways I had never experienced to say the least. Charlie Has represented several of my friends and did a fantastic job of defending me. The DUI charge was dropped for lack of evidence. I was terrified when I got arrested for DUI in Nov of 07', I had no idea what to do. I was told to hire the best man in town, Charlie Magarahan. I will say he is expensive but there are no hidden fees, and the cost of hiring the best attorney in town is muchh less than being convicted of DUI. From our first meeting to the last court appearance he made sure I was always aware of what to expect, and he educated me about every aspect of my case without being condescending. He will be brutally honest with you and he tells it like it is. I remember during his inital assessment of my case he told me that if I didn't have a leg to stand on as far as whether or not to fight and go to trial, he would tell me immediately and not bother to waste my or his own time. My case took three years to resolve due to transfering the case from one court to another, and other typical calendar issues.Charlie had my case moved from city of Atlanta to Fulotn county when he found out that they were going to start a new community service program that required a probationer to sign a waiver that excused the program from responisblity if you were hurt while serving. Charile said that no client of his was going to risk his life picking up trash on the highway and risk being hit by a car all for the sake of serving probation. He also said that just because he was moving the case that didn't mean he was having any doubts of winning my case, it was simply a matter of protecting his client. I always knew he had my best interest at heart but that really impressed me and put me at ease. Even though my case took so long to finally be resolved Charlie was present for every court appearance and treated my case like it had just happened yesterday. He hired an expert witness whose knowledge of the techincality involving the breathalyzer machines used by the police dept was mindblowing. To make a long story short, Charlie had every intention of taking my case to trial and he always made sure that I was aware of the risks if we did in fact lose, and the decision to go to trial was always mine. When it was finally resolved in Feb 11' he actually saved me the humiliation of having to relive that night in front of a jury of my peers by striking a deal with the DA. I ended up pleading nolo contendere to reckless driving and received no penality on my license , 40 hours of community service (thank goodness he switched courts!) a smal fine and I had to attend a DUI class. What could have been the worst experience of my life turned out to be a true learning experience that I am so grateful for. I hope my ramblin helps someone else.

I retained Charles after interviewing 2 other attorneys for a DUI case. Unfortunately, it was not a good fact pattern or police report. Charles put me at ease, if that is possible, and broke down the facts and corresponding consequences of the case. I was able to keep my license pending resolution, which was a must if I was going to keep my job.

This is a hell of a process. Sleepless nights and fear of the unknown are constant and do not go away. Charlie is a straight shooter, but more importantly he is the best in the business. I met with several attorneys who all advised me to plead guilty and they would do there best to get a good plea agreement. Charlie looked at my case and said, "I can take this to trial and might even win." This may not sound like a man with confidence, but I haven't told you about my case. I was charged with DUI after being involved in an accident while traveling North in the Southbound lanes of GA 400. Charlie was magnificent. No jail time and I kept my driving privlages. Most importantly, Charlie made it very clear to me that I was lucky to be alive and that I didn't kill anyone else. He told me that he would feel safer with me in jail, but it was his job to defend me and that is exactly what he did. As great as Charlie is in the courtroom setting, he is even better at relating with his clients and helping them improve themselves. That is why I credit Charlie with saving my a$$ and making me a better person.

Charlie is a great lawyer. I had a nearly hopeless case. Charlie took the case, saying that he has an 80% success rate. Charlie was confident in his abilities, told me all the options, and was straightforward with my situation. When my arresting officer didn't show up in court during the motions hearing, Charlie was quick to spit out a legal article and vouched for me to the judge and got the case dismissed. He fought hard for me from start to finish and was always on top of things.

My only complaint is that he could be hard to get in touch with. He would always get back with me in a day or two, but I found that I spent more time on the phone with his knowledgeable assistant than him. Overall, I have no real complaints about Charlie.

What seemed at first to be an easy case, turned into a case that everyone hated. Mr. Magarahan stuck with it, was understanding to changes that occurred during the pre-trial and negotiations. With the minimal sentencing. A great man, I would recommend him to anyone.
