Outcome: Unlicensed contractor sued for balance on remodel

Description: Summary judgment against "remodeling contractor" (plaintiff) on de novo appeal of magistrates award in favor of defendant homeowner. Contractor was plaintiff and brought action against homeowner who terminated remodel contract for reasons including the failure to hold required state contractor's license. Homeowner was defendant and counterclaimant. Counterclaim by homeowner pending for damages. Court found contractor did not hold required state contractor license and entered summary judgment in favor of homeowner/client for all amounts paid by homeowner without deduction for any actual costs incurred by contractor for work actually performed and ordered release of lien claim.
