State v. R.E.

John G Koufos

Case Conclusion Date: March 26, 2010

Practice Area: Violent Crime

Outcome: Not Guilty - Armed Robberies

Description: R.E. was tried in Middlesex County, New Jersey, for two counts of first degree armed robbery, second degree aggravated assault, and third/fourth degree weapons offenses. The jury acquitted R.E. of the most serious charges which would have required 10 - 20 years in prison with an 85% parole ineligibility requirement. R.E. confessed to assaultive behavior, but maintained that he did not steal anything from the victim. R.E. was convicted on lesser third and fourth degree crimes that do not require a stipulation of parole ineligibility.
