Larry Kotin helped me secure an out of district placement for my son - a 10 year old boy diagnosed with double-deficit dyslexia. Larry was able to quickly dig into the details of the history of the case, assess the temperature of the district and advise me on the steps necessary to achieve my goals. Larry was efficient - I never felt over or under serviced or billed for his support. And yet he was always available to me when I needed him. He was very effective at modifying my approach when necessary, editing letters that I wrote to elicit a response and an outcome that was in my son's best interest. He was also very good at pulling me in from the ledge (so to speak) when I got frustrated or impatient with the process. I also found it inspiring that Larry truly cared about my son, his interests and his dreams. Larry wasn't just handling a case. He was working for my son and for his future. Because of my approach and style, Larry never had to attend a meeting nor did we have to go to hearing. We accomplished the ultimate goal for my son with Larry standing beside me and advising me every step of the way. He interpreted the response and reactions of the district with unbelievable accuracy even though he had not worked with this district previously - likely because of his years of experience. I remember the first time he told me his hourly rate - and I think I gasped out loud. But in the end, I can honestly say that he was worth every penny. What I know without a doubt is that I could not have secured this out of district placement without him and that I could not have asked for a more compassionate and competent attorney to help me chart this course for my son. If you are facing the challenge of securing the educational services your child needs, I highly recommend that you reach out to Larry Kotin for his advice and counsel. I have no doubt that you will come away from the engagement far ahead of where you began.
