Description: 18 year old female client underwent abdominal surgery. Surgeon and nurses failed to keep proper count of surgical sponges. One sponge was left within the client's abdominal cavity for nearly one year causing signficant infections. Two surgeries were required to remove the sponge and clear the infections. The surgeon and three nurses each denied they were negligent.
