Question

What happens if I can't keep up payments for court ordered GAL payments while still in court?

What are the repricussions if I miss a payment or some? I am in a very long custody battle and am going through reunification therapy with my kid, which is a lot of money each session. If i dont pay therapy I can't do session so that is my priority. Since I am paying therapy I cannot afford to pay 300 monthly for the GAL which she court ordered, what happens if I cant pay it since I am strapped with paying therapy.

As background I work part time to take care of 2nd child wile wife works and I can barely pay for child support and now therapy.

I agree with Gary. I would add that you should try to negotiate with the GAL. If that doesn’t work, you can try a motion to modify the payment amount in court. Best to work something out with the GAL.

My answer does not create an attorney-client relationship. My answer is for general information only per the AVVO guidelines.
