I operate a VA LLC and want to file a DBA. I work remotely from VA for customers in/out of VA. Do I need to file multiple DBAs?
I operate a Virginia LLC from a single location (home office) in Stafford County, VA. I provide services remotely to customers located in Virginia and in other states. I want to establish a new brand for a product/service and plan to file a DBA in my county. That is, 'ABC LLC doing business as XYZ'.
I intend to conduct business nationally (still remotely) under the XYZ name. Is a single DBA filed in Stafford County sufficient based on my physical location? Are there other filing requirements with this configuration?
Thanks for your help!
Just as the attorney mentioned above, you should retain a business attorney for your business in addition to having one assist you with the DBA. For the DBA that you'll be using you'll need to file in the county you are in for sure. It is the Certificate of Assumed or Fictitious Name which, upon proper completion will be reflected on the Virginia SCC database.

Ultimately, you should consult with an experienced Business Attorney to assess when and where your company might be obligated to register to do business in other States, including any fictitious or assumed name filings (DBAs). You also should explore trademark registration to protect the value of business names under which your company will conduct operations. As a preliminary matter, your website and other means of offering your services should include a statement such as, "ABC LLC doing business as XYZ."
The foregoing discussion does not establish an attorney-client relationship, is qualified by the limited facts presented above, and should not be relied upon as legal advice. To obtain definitive legal advice upon which one can rely necessitates retaining an attorney who is qualified in this particular area of the law.

Thank you for your response. Based on the information you provided and additional research, I've decided to rename the LLC rather than file DBAs.
