Does my full cover insurance have to pay for the tow after an accident?
I was involved in a car accident due to bad weather. I called the tow company and they ask me if I have full coverage because insurance will pay that for me. But insurance is refusing to pay for the tow. And the guy from the tow company told me he had the same issue with a different customer with the exact same insurance I have. At the end of everything the insurance end up paying for the tow cost. What should I do?
"Full coverage" means different things to different people. It sounds like the tow operator mislead you to make you assume "full coverage" automatically included towing, even while different companies handle towing coverage differently. Contact your insurance agent and explain your situation. Ask them what coverages are included for towing, specifically where an accident was involved. If they claim towing is excluded, ask them to send you the related policy language excluding towing and see if the language fits your situation. You indicate this tow was for an accident due to weather, not a mere breakdown or blown tire, which may be relevant. Give your agent all of the facts and press for them to go to bat for you with the actual insurance company.
