I can always rely on him!

Highly professional and knows his stuff. Has helped me time and time again with traffic court issues.

No wonder he’s free

If I could give a zero, I would. An attorney is supposed to be your voice in a court proceeding. Mr. Dowd didn’t speak more then one sentence within about 6 court dates. Anything, I told him which I thought were crutial points to my case, were silenced. On day one, he promised to stick with me the wh...ole time, and things would end in my favor. Our first appearance in court, the judge objected on Mr. Dowds behalf, because he remained silent. On our last day of court (unknown to me), Mr. Dowd proceeded to tell me “our” long term plan. And told me at the end when the judge asks me if I agree, I need to respond “yes”. Immediately after my “yes” response the judge said no need to put us back on the calendar. I was very confused. I asked to be told what was happening. He told me everything was going to remain the same that it was and we will have to come back to court. I thought my court case was adjourned and for some reason or another they didn’t give us the next court date. The next day I got an email from the courts, with my new order. And apparently, unbeknownst to me, I just gave my ex full custody. I truely feel like Mr Dowd, did such a disservice to me, and to my daughter. My ex is a bad person. And there are many reasons why he shouldn’t have my daughter. But not one of those reasons we’re discussed in the slightest. I felt like I was screaming at the top of my lungs in a crowded room and I was just silenced. Now, my daughter is miserable and I’m miserable. And I have to start the process all over. This is time I can’t get back with my kid. And, he just moved on to probably screw up the next case. He didn’t care about me or my daughter or my situation then, and he doesn’t care now. It’s very sad that this is what humanity is.

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
