Vicki M Smith

I am a partner at Bodyfelt Mount, a Portland, Oregon-based law firm that specializes in civil litigation. My practice includes general civil litigation with an emphasis on insurance coverage, construction defect, toxic tort, and professional liability claims. I practice in all state and federal courts in Oregon and Washington.

I have an active trial practice and have tried many cases to verdict. In 2013, I defended a general contractor in a multi-week construction defect arbitration. I previously tried a construction defect case where I obtained a favorable verdict for my general contractor client. My trial experience also includes a contractual indemnity matter, a case involving product liability and commercial breach of contract, and many personal injury actions.

I became an attorney because I enjoy the challenges and strategies in problem-solving. My love of trial strategy carried through law school mock trial competitions, the mock trial board, and through my two-year clerkship at the Oregon Department of Justice’s Trial Division. The natural progression after law school was to clerk for a trial judge, which I did for the Honorable Lyle C. Velure in state court.
