Kevin Crockett Scrivner

I hired Kevin to reopen a divorce case in Oct of '07- I paid him a $7500 retainer and he ensured me that he felt I had a good case and worth persuing- I had already been through the ringer with my husband and needed to feel that I could trust my attorney- My father, from out of town- spent a great de...al of time on the phone with him and felt very confident in his ability and his ability with the case- my father has been in business and sales his whole life and holds himself to be a great judge of people and their character. That should give you an idea of what kind of a person Kevin is- he is very capable of talking his way through and around almost anything and anyone- he is a consummate con-artist- not an attorney. Not long after I retained him for my case- it became increasingly difficult and apparent that I could not reach him by phone- I would get responses by email, ocassionally- and fortunately I did use email, because it gave me the evidence to file to the greivance case I was ultimately forced to file-it showed just how unobtainable he was throughout the time that he was supposed to be actively working on my case. The scariest, and ultimately the worst thing that Kevin did to me was neglect to make me aware of Discovery that I had been court ordered to provide after a hearing he had atended, unbeknownst to me. The only reason I became aware of it was because my ex-husband had the decency to contact me- he had an interest in the outcome- and make me aware that if I didn't produce the Discovery that I was in jeopardy of having a warrant issued for contempt of court! I was dumb founded- I tried to reach Kevin- to no avail -In the mean time, I was forced to retain alternate counsel to represent me for the upcoming hearing to present the Discovery and try to resolve the open-ended case, that as far as I knew had been over months earlier. I finally had to get his paralegal Pam Burleson to force him to arrange a meeting with me, once he left the office before I showed up , so somehow we, together, managed to force him into being there by having me show up on an off time. When I did, he lied through the whole meeting but still had the arrogance to try to hold the upper hand through the meeting and tell me that he had mailed the informaton but had neglected to send it certified because "he didn't feel it was necessary"- and yet he had told Pam he had given it to me personally in a prior meeting (although she knew it was still on his desk) (he didn't know she had been sharing info. with me)- we had caught him in so many lies. She has since- after a lot of what she found out through my case in particular- quit working for him- and not too soon for her, because shortly after I filed my Grievance case this Spring ('09), I got a call from one of the officer's with the Grievance committee telling me that when they went to investigate the case and get testimony from Kevin (he doesn't deserve the respect of being called Mr Scrivner) that the security officers at his building told him that he had been locked out of his office for non- payment of rent and that they had heard that he had been going through a difficult divorce. I had been told that his wife had had some health issues prior to that- and he had seemed very distant and unavailable when all of that began- Through my entire case, I wondered if there were drugs or alcohol involved, something was not right with him, ever- The only time that he was "normal", was the first time he introduced himself to me and presented himself to be the person to be able to handle my case. He ended up causing me to lose the case I brought to him because I don't believe he spent any time on it at all- additionally, it ended up costing me so much more money because I had to hire another attorney to pick up the case where he dropped the ball- (almost had me in jail!), and try to clean up the mess he left- I ended up owing my ex-husband money because of poor advice Kevin had given me. The judges and other attorneys don't care what you're going through either- the new attorney I hired almost

I hired Kevin Scrivner to represent me in family court. I was ordered to pay the sum of six thousand seven hundred dollars by the court. When I went to the second hearing I brought the money in cash. When Kevin and I met with the prosecutor he said could not accept cash. Kevin offered to pay the amo...unt with a check from his law firm. I handed the money to Kevin in front of the prosecutor who is a witness. In April 2007 I asked Kevin represent me in another family court matter. Kevin asked for an additional $2,500 to represent me in this second case. I paid him using cashier’s checks. (two checks of $1250 each). One cashiers check was given to him personally by me. The second check I gave to Pamela R. Burleson. I also asked him at this time, to please clear up the fact that the $6700 was not paid. The Attorney General only needed a cancelled check and I would be credited. Kevin said he would do that. No action was taken to resolve the discrepancy. No action was taken on my second case. Repeated attempts to contact him directly or through his paralegal, Pamela R. Burleson failed. All appointments I made through Pamela R. Burleson failed.

We hired Kevin to handle our case. Kevin was non-responsive towards me, the opposing counsel, and the guardian et litem. Kevin took a $5000 retainer from me yet never did any work on my case. Dropped the ball and did not show up to one of my hearings, which caused the judge to set my case for trial. ...My wife and I had to find a last minute attorney to take the case, which cost us another $2500 dollars. Kevin took money that was supposed to be given to the guardian et litem assigned to our case. Went to his "office" and there was an eviction notice on the door. Yet, Kevin drives a Porsche! It is very unfortunate because he gives attorneys a bad name. Very unprofessional and needs his license taken away!!

I'm having to file a grievance against Kevin. He abandoned my case (even though I still had retainer funds remaining), the judge sanctioned me because he wouldn't respond (he didn't tell me about that, either), and he kept money for himself that was supposed to go to the psychologist assigned to the ...case. Do not use him as your lawyer.
