High cost for nothing.

Todd's services cost $775, I got nothing but 27 emails, a dozen texts, a few phone calls - and no solution. I got the job done for $550 elsewhere. Lesson? Caveat emptor. Just because another lawyer referred them, well, my point is made.

Derek realized after we started the process of document review and related consultation that in my opinion there was not the clear wished-for miracle exception to the time and effort it would take to re-do the documents he previously submitted on his own and which were rejected by the court. In my understanding this communication was unacceptable to him based on his own personal timeline and thus he went elsewhere and "got the job done", as he says. I cannot comment on whether going elsewhere meant still re-doing his documents in an ethical and legal way. I did try to see if there were possible alternative solutions that were ethical, legal and yet still expedited the process, but related suggestions of potential possibilities were not good enough for him. The actual "lesson" for him should have been if you don't do it yourself correctly the first time, go to a lawyer to get the job done right and as fast as possible, but don't expect the lawyer to just cave to unethical demands. If he got what he wanted some other way and through some other service at a lesser cost, but it wasn't ethical and/or legal, then I wouldn't consider that a cause for celebration or negative thoughts about my services.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
