Timothy J Van Name

I went to law school primarily to be in a position to help those who cannot help themselves; to use my skills for the greater good of society in an effort to invoke change in any way imaginable.  It is these desires that led me into the fields of criminal, constitutional and civil rights law.  These desires where further nurtured when I decided to become an intern at the Public Defender's Office in Miami, where I learned amongst many things, how to fight the good fight.

Upon graduation, I worked for a year in a private law firm, which handled several high profile criminal cases, ranging from misdemeanors to serious life felonies.  Though I gained incredible trial and hands-on experience at that law office, I still had the burning desire to help those who are less fortunate and not in the position to help themselves.  I decided to leave that office to pursue a career the Regional Counsel's Office in Miami, where I was to handle conflict of interest cases for my beloved Public Defender's Office.  While an Assistant Regional Counsel, I was assigned to multiple misdemeanor courtrooms, as well as a felony division all at the same time.  This instilled me with the all important virtue of being able to manage a full and demanding case load, while helping people who found themselves in unfortunate situation by offering the best representation and hands-on counseling possible.  There is nothing more rewarding than providing high-priced legal assistance to an indigent citizen in need.  They are people just like you and I, that deserve to be represented zealously despite their ability to pay for an attorney.  During my 5 exciting years at the Office, I was able to gain experience in a wide range of criminal matters, from standard DUI's and Battery all the way up to Armed Trafficking, Kidnapping and Murder.  Leaving that Office was not an easy decision, but I decided that it was time to open my own practice  to expand into different and important areas of the law, while following the same principles I learned there...top notch legal representation for all.
