If there was nothing wrong with the car, then the dealer would have a claim against you. However, it looks like the damages would be insignificant.

Take a look at the lease and see if those deposits are labeled refundable or non-refundable. I would guess that the pet deposit is refundable but...

Of course, they blame each other. So you sue them jointly and let them fight between themselves as to which one is liable to you.
