SHIRLEY LIN is currently Acting Assistant Professor of Lawyering at NYU School of Law and an Affiliated Scholar with CUNY School of Law. She has counseled and litigated on behalf of employees in state and federal court, and represented claimants before federal and state departments of labor. Ms. Lin was previously a senior associate with Outten & Golden LLP and a Skadden Fellow at the Asian American Legal Defense & Education Fund (AALDEF), where she represented low-wage Asian immigrant workers and labor trafficking survivors in connection with their wage-and-hour, discrimination, retaliation, and trafficking claims.
Upon graduating from the City University of New York School of Law in 2010, Ms. Lin clerked for the Honorable Denny Chin of the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. During law school, she served as Managing Articles Editor of the New York City Law Review, and represented two habeas petitioners imprisoned in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, and Bagram, Afghanistan, before the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Before law school, Ms. Lin directed communications efforts at AALDEF, and was the Director of Community Organizing at New Immigrant Community Empowerment.
Ms. Lin graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College in 2002, with a B.A. in Women’s Studies and Spanish Languages & Literature. She was honored with the Hannah T. Croasdale Award, for “the most significant contribution to the quality of life for women at Dartmouth College.”
Ms. Lin is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the State of New Jersey, the District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the District of New Jersey, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.
