We went to Ms. Sharlene with a complicated case of my brother in law in 2018. She did researches and asked us to come to the office following week. When that someone is a child and is convicted of an infraction their parents commited they seek humanity. My father brought his wife and kids to America 21 years ...ago and we as a family overstayed our visa because my Mother was in shape to travel back due to the hardship of pregnancy. After 9/11 when citizens of certain countries were asked to register, I accompanied my father as his translator to the INS office for registration. We found out about our I-94 extension denial at that office and my father was immediately put into removal proceedings. What followed that day when I was held at the holding facility along with my father for 6 hours being released on good faith was a life long battle to belong in a country I now call home. The lawyers we seeked told us the harsh reality of living on appeals but we did and 7 years later we found out the truth that yes our father is deported. The last 2 years we went inbetween lawyers and finally came to Sharlene for legal counsel. She went above and beyond her duties to make sure my father once detained for final removal was removed promently as his health was deterriorating inside the detention center. My father would've choosen voluntary departure had we had known that our previous lawyer was only going to take the money and not file the case. He suffured with finals stages of COPD. I was 19 years old amd I stayed behind but I knew then that I was going to be seeking counsel from Sharlene for life as her compassion and sympathy towards my father who was for a lack of better words on his last leg in the immigration and life realm. Time went on and DACA came by along with 2 divorces but there was Sharlene again taking on the cases for a son of a former client. She as we speak just called me an hour ago to inform me of my approval of my I-130 petition. I have been in front of an immigration judge when I was 12 as my dad's translator and after seeing how the immigration process went for my dad was the most nervous client a lawyer would never ask for. We started this process with Sharlene in November 2019. I was on a post OPT status filing for adjustment of status by having my spouse (Permanent Resident) sponsor me. We filed our paper work in December 2019, and I'm happy to say I got my Permanent residence status in May 2021. I imagine it would ha...ve been even faster had Covid not occurred. We met 3 times but communicated constantly via email and phone. She was always quick to respond and had clear informative answers. She prepared us extremely well for the interview and when we filed the original paperwork. She went through everything with a fine comb to ensure accuracy, and reviewed everything alongside us. She helped us when we had to file an address change and she even helped us when the USCIS mistakenly requested evidence for something that didn't apply to us.
