My father brought his wife and kids to America 21 years ...ago and we as a family overstayed our visa because my Mother was in shape to travel back due to the hardship of pregnancy. After 9/11 when citizens of certain countries were asked to register, I accompanied my father as his translator to the INS office for registration. We found out about our I-94 extension denial at that office and my father was immediately put into removal proceedings. What followed that day when I was held at the holding facility along with my father for 6 hours being released on good faith was a life long battle to belong in a country I now call home.
