Samuel "Sammy" Svalina was born in Chicago, Illinois, on April 15, 1964. He was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1990. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court, District of South Carolina, Supreme Court; and United States Court of Appeals, 4th Circuit. His educational background includes: Washington and Lee University (Bachelor of Arts Degree, 1986); University of South Carolina (Juris Doctoral in 1990). He was a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Fraternity. He is certified by the South Carolina Bar as a Mediator in the Circuit Court. He served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Signal Corps in 1987.
