Biography
Onochie Onwuemene was born and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland. Mr. Onwuemene graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2003, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. While there, Mr. Onwuemene was a walk-on wide receiver on the 2001 ACC Championship Maryland Terrapins team. As a scholar-athlete and special teams captain, his teams had three ten-win seasons, played in three major bowl games and finished the season ranked in the top 25 for three consecutive seasons.
While earning his Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of in Miami, Florida, Mr. Onwuemene served as President of the Entertainment and Sports Law Society and was awarded the coveted Book Award for his achievements in Florida Constitutional Law. Mr. Onwuemene is currently licensed to practice law in Florida.
Mr. Onwuemene has been a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters since 2010 and logged many hours volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. Since relocating to Jacksonville in January 2013, Mr. Onwuemene has volunteered with the Donovan Darius Foundation and plans to continue to volunteer in the community with sports and the youth.
