Vance Shane Allen

In my view, Vance Shane Allen, the City Attorney for Ponca City, has demonstrated conduct that raises serious concerns about professionalism, transparency, and ethical judgment. Based on my interactions and the public records I have reviewed, I believe he routinely relies on unsupported claims that d...o not align with the documented facts. It is also my opinion that he appears to use his position within the city structure to discourage or intimidate individuals who request public records, which is deeply troubling for anyone who values open government. No public official should create an environment where citizens feel threatened for exercising their legal right to access information. Ponca City itself has already faced federal scrutiny for failing to comply with public records laws. The U.S. Department of Justice previously took action against the city for violations related to transparency and access to information — a matter of public record. In my view, this history makes the current behavior even more unacceptable, and it reflects a broader pattern of disregard for accountability. From my perspective, the City Attorney’s conduct is morally bankrupt and inconsistent with the ethical standards expected of someone in his position. I believe the community deserves better, and I strongly encourage oversight bodies to investigate his actions to ensure that public power is not being misused. My goal in sharing this opinion is to raise awareness and encourage others to pay attention to how their local government operates. Transparency, honesty, and respect for the law should never be optional.
