If convicted, yes. Not to mention the insurance rates would rise dramatically. He should hire an attorney to try and avoid this.

No that is not true. First of all, New York doesn't expunge. And if there is a fine from the court then that means you've pled guilty to something....

There could be a hearing to determine the source of bail money. Also, restitution would likely be a part of any disposition other than a dismissal....
