for those of you needing to use a family lawyer, it's pretty dismal out there. The field does not seem to attract the best and the brightest (can you blame them?) and most people who practice are sole practitioners who take on these horrible cases because that's where the business is. I have used... quite a few attorneys to deal with divorce issues, and while none were outstanding, many were truly awful. Maryanne is a decent person and will do the job if you don't have anything highly complex. She'll be reasonably aggressive, and is easy to work with. Never sit back and assume that someone else can represent your best interests. In this field, you need to be your own best advocate. Your attorney is only as good as the information you give them. Maryanne's fees are pretty reasonable, and she bills fairly. She'll also work out a payment plan if necessary. For two hearings (both hotly contested) and two filings (we did most of the work, she just edited) and a few settlement issues after the hearing, it ran about $7000. Hope this helps!
